I Don't know if this is actually a cycle path, but the EEN says it is closing for a year:

CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 17years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

I used to use the wee link path between Westfield Avenue and Baird Drive as it was a bit shorter than the road. But I eventually gave up due to the abundance of broken glass, and there is a kerb (albeit small) at the Westfield Av end. /And/ a blind corner halfway along.
It was quicker in the end to go by road - at first I did Westfield Road and Stevenson Road, but then I changed to using Gorgie Road; a bit further but faster overall, mainly due to the traffic lights.
Russell Road was orginally meant to close in 2008 (for tram works) but the date kept getting pushed back. It still hasn't closed almost two years later. As a result I'd wait to see if this section of thew WoL does actually close before changing travel plans.
"wee link path between Westfield Avenue and Baird Drive"
Presumably that AND the path on the other side will be shut.
At the same time?
Yes, removing some/most/all of the trees.
