I watched about 15 cars go round that corner the other day. All bar one of them crossed over the dashed white line.
And more than half crossed both wheels over the dashed white line i.e. cutting the corner fully on the wrong side of the road.
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 14years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

There were yellow 'no parking' cones and temporary parking restriction signs being erected by the line painting squad today, so hopefully the double yellows will be connected up very soon.
I still don't understand how the council have suddenly decided that they can put double yellows here when they previously claimed they had to remove them because a tram works related TTRO had expired? Background here
It's sign posted as street lighting work, not sure they are reinstating the lines.
The lines were almost reinstated this morning, apart from where there was still a car parked.
Anyone fancy rolling it out of the way?
If there were waiting cones down I assume a lorry will come along shortly to do that slightly more professionally.
The car is now gone, but there is a car sized gap in the double yellows. Good to see that the intention is to have the double yellows back on this corner.
Went by today. Didn't see any new signs on posts - presume any existing ones apply to full length of lines?
Anyone trying to find out how/when CEC got TRO to do this??
I've not seen any TRO recently for Russell Road
You could of course submit a Freedom of Information request via What do they Know

21 days to respond with information.
Why ask? If it turn's out there isn't a TRO the Council will just burn the lines off again. Leave that up to any drivers who fancy parking there I say.
It might be useful to know if the council has special powers to do this sort of thing without a TRO, for example where there is clear evidence of it contributing to dangerous driving.
"Why ask? If it turn's out there isn't a TRO "
I'm with Luath on this.
I find it hard to believe that CEC would repaint the lines without all the correct paperwork being in place - though there are times and places (like this) where I wish they would!
It's possible that CEC has realised that removing the lines wasn't legally necessary, in which case this is likely to be a slightly embarrassing one-off.
IF there are 'newly discovered powers/procedures' I think it's worth knowing.
Councils don't have special powers to paint yellow lines. The provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and associated Local Authorities' Traffic Orders (Procedure) (Scotland) Regulations 1999 apply in all cases.
I agree with chdot that it is highly unlikely the council would paint these lines in without the legal authority to do so. However, it seems a bit silly to ask for the lines to be painted, the Council do it and then to question whether they have the authority to do so. The lines are there - keeping the access to the NEPN free from parked cars. Why not leave it at that?
I'm with Morningsider on this one.
