"no one will care about the name"

Dunno about that. Some Glaswegians are very particular about anything that hails from east of the Falkirk Wheel...

"there should be money in the pot to spend if people ask for it with the 5% of transport budget thing."

Are Glasgow City Council doing that too? I thought it was just Edinburgh?

I'm sure I have missed plenty of obvious ones -

@crowriver. Ah. I'd assumed that was a Scotland wide thing. Boo, hiss, etc.

    Sort of -

"We’re convinced that financial investment and infrastructural change are essential and with that in mind, our manifesto asks for 5% of the transport budget be allocated to cycling-related investment – surely 5% is not too much to ask for the cost of 10% of journeys? "

Hmmmm... CCE dropping the E (perhaps in favour of an S??

I have these two round things on my bike. They're great appart from the odd puncture and rims wearing out every year or two. But I can't help thinking there is some thing lacking... Is anyone a comptent designer. I could do with someting invented as a better replacement. A bit like re inventing the wheel¿¿¿

    @chdot, addendum linkiness:

    Bycycle – Perth & Kinross cycle campaign – http://www.bycycle.org.uk
(They produced some really handy cycle maps of Perthshire)

    Local CTC groups:

    Fife & Kinross
    Tayside
    Dumfries & Galloway
    Glasgow
    Highland

(Please Googol them for links so I don't get spam bot zapped)

Whatever happens, can I suggest you dont brand anything CCS?

This has certain resonance with a particular brand of (Leith based) football hooligan from the 1980s and would appear in google searches by those who may glorify that sort of thing.

Back OT - I like the local feel of CCE, have been in large forums before, and they are just not as friendly as this. I like that we can have PY fridays regularly.

I cant see why a CCG wouldnt be a success though - perhaps Magnatom should spearhead it.

Wait indeed. That would be Cyclisme des Villes Ecossais.
Decent webforumthings, like interesting conversations, usually just happen by themselves, rather than being planned.

Incidentally (and just so it's clear I wasn't intending on treading on toes) my suggestion was more along the lines of chdot's link further up the thread. CCE remaining as is, where people could access directly or through a CCS portal with links to other city fora and bicycle related links for Scotland.

If I was a management-speak-type I may through something in here about facilitating the cross-polination of ideas. But I'm not.

    "McCabe grass"

Ah yes, a very frequently seen bit of graffiti.

I have photos (pre-digital, will be in a box somewhere!)

Now such things would be more likely be part of an eca degree show project!

Of course Edinburgh gangs were always a bit tame - compared with Glasgow.

No idea if there was any crossover between neighbourhood gangs and football casuals.

    B.A.C.K. S.H.I.E.L.D

or was that 90s? I haven't seen one in ages. Last I remember was around about 2006 on scaffolding at top end of Montpelier Park.

There was a chalked S.H.I.E.L.D. on one of the Caledonian Hotel's ridges until at least 2007 and a few stickers on lamp-posts appearing until at least 2008.
