Presume you mean by lining up the slots in the cable adjuster and lockring on the brake levers?
Still needs enough slack to pull enough to get outer cable out of brake lever adjuster(?)

Squidge the brakes a bit inwards?
I think the levers I could have demonstrated this with on my old sparebike went back to the bike station. I could also squidge the brake arms in a bit enough to unhook the cable from the bridge when it had cantilever brakes. The squidging-inwards of the brake arms is a necessary action for disengaging the noodle on V-brakes when fiddling with brakes or tyres or wheels.

has anyone got a pair of off road 26" tyres I could borrow for next weekend? I've been assured that there is nothing terribly gnarly and current tyres on my mtb are somewhat overkill for anything bar a trail centre (plus the rubber is soft as)

would this be of any interest to anyone , 853 steel frame 57cm c/c , it`s actually a Lemond frame re-badged as a Benotto (there is a story behind the reason) in good condition but would come up lovely with another professional respray

Steveo - I think I've got the original tyres from my 26" mtb hanging in the shed you are welcome to - if not I have some 'small bump' style tyres on my shamefully hardly used mtg (continental race kings) I can lend you through Unhurt....

For sale: Giant MX-20 child’s mountain bike. Lightweight aluminium frame. Front suspension fork. 20” wheels with solid axles and aluminium rims. 5 speed gears with twist grip shifter. V-brakes front and rear. Quick release saddle post clamp. Reflectors front and rear. Good features for a kid’s bike: rear mech protector saves the gears from damage if bike falls over. Kickstand mounted behind BB makes for easy parking. Wheel nuts feature rubber caps which protect them against corrosion and also protect young shins and ankles from scrapes, cuts and bruises when pushing or dismounting. Small tear to saddle on left hand side has been patched with gaffer tape.
This bike is in good used condition, has been stored indoors and looked after. Suitable for a child aged 5 to 8 years approximately depending on height.

Free to good home, this BMX style kids’ bike. Suitable for ages 3-5 years approx. depending on how tall your child is.
Single speed freewheel in excellent nick, caliper brakes, 14” wheel size. Hasn’t been used much, in very good condition. Has now been fitted with pedals (thanks to biketrain for the donation).
I have training/stabiliser wheels too if required.

Apologies if this is not appropriate for this forum: I am looking for a decent second hand bike trailer. Ideally with some form of basic suspension (i.e. it doesn't need to have 160mm travel fox floats!), adaptable into a jogging stroller, and packs up relatively small and easily. I am also keeping an eye on gumtree (just got let down by someone who had agreed to sell to me and then decided to sell to someone off-line instead) and ebay. Any help appreciated!

Not a swap as such, you would have to give the EBC £27.50. For a pair of altura panniers. Now if like me you like to roll with two 20 litre rear panniers these are pretty good for the money. Not perhaps the most robust nylon but they do have some padding at the bottom (where the holes appear for me). I have added bubble wrap at the bottom.(inside). There is a waterproofing applied to the material (I also have covers that go over the bags from other panniers.). Some reflectivity, some adjustment possible on the attachment gubbins. Also have an external pocket in the lid.
I know there is at least another pair as due to an ordering error we took two panniers back to bruntsfield this afternoon.
Also on website Altura Dryline 20 litres pannier which is a tougher and more waterproof fabric. You buy them singly but they are double the price. They are In the sale as there is a newer version

Also digging the little fastener which makes carrying both bags wth one hand easier. D rings for strap if that is how you roll

That's been a feature of Altura panniers for a long time. Used to be a press stud / popper, one half on each handle. Also could fasten to the back of pannier to keep handle out of the way.

Anyone have a spare clip Rix and Kaul style for an Altura pannier? It is attached (my one very loosely at the factory) with a wee screw and slides up and down the bar on the back of the bag to allow the pannier to be attached to the lower spars of a pannier racK. Mine fell off a day after I bought the bags from EBC. They are being hopeless about getting me a replacement clip. £2.99
Obviously, if I had read the instructions there was a whole section on making sure the screw was tight before use.
