    Andy spoke to him as his postion was very good....Rest of ERC ignored him

    How do I join?

    @iwrats - not sure if you mean how do I join Edinburgh Road Club? If so then it's open to all with lightweight bike and correct clothing. Imagine if you turn up more than 3 times they may want you to actually join ERC officially though.

    Riders of inappropriate bikes need not apply (like me):-)

    Andy engaged with guy who said he had tried to chase down group several times as they shift at 40kph en masse. He categorised the guy as a 'lone ranger'. This is same category as me of course!

    @iwrats You must wear the correct gear and also eschew handkerchieves. I was in a car behind a couple of people in ERC costume last weekend. During one light sequence one of them did three snot rockets.

    Roibeard migrating south past Summerhall junction last night while I went north. Then a few hundred metres later I spotted a faux Roibeard - yellow vis vest, red wooly hat, riding a folder.

    @wingpig, if they eschew handkerchiefs, I am out. Though I accept one snot rocket of course

    I cycled to Fife and back this afternoon. You need to use the western path on the Forth Road Bridge, and there's a toucan crossing at the north end of the bridge to let pedestrians/cyclists cross the road (I was heading east, through Inverkeithing).

    On the way back, it was genuinely tempting to just use the carriageway to cross the bridge.

    @Frenchy, you wouldn't have been the first. Although I wouldn't want to be passed by a road hog on the carriageway.

    I normally use the slip roads when going downhill and ignore the obnoxiously tight toucan.

    @LaidBack

    I once went out on an ERC taster ride. I think they objected to me being faster than them up hills and when I bonked in Port Seaton they just dumped me so I will not rest until I have a Conrad-style garden fence made out of their bones. Never forget, never forgive.

    @wingpig

    I am a hill runner at heart and the artful snot rocket (not always intentional) is a core part of that sport. I have to stop myself in offices, shops, libraries etc.

    @gembo

    One of the best beers I ever had was a draught Smog Rocket in the Hanging Bat. Could be a Slug/Slochd situation?

    Smog Rocket available direct from Beavertown in Tottenham. £57.25 for 24 cans. Plus postage.

    Not cheap but we could go halfers, though I note you had it on draught.

    I had a beautiful stout from adnam's in their brewery, they were sponsoring tour of Britain so I was wanting them to bring it up to Edinburgh.

    Interestingly for a punk brand they have taken £40million from Heineken.

    The owner in the past critical of big Brewers.

    There's an argument that taking money from big corporations is actually a really punk thing to do. I first heard this argument made in a documentary about Green Day, who (in)famously signed to a major label and lost fans, friends and respect by doing so.

    @frenchy, yes there is a name for that argument. It is Resolution of Cognitive Dissonance.

    The owner of Beavertown has it in spades on their website. Heineken only have a minority share in Beacertown for their £40million. Et cetera

    The big red e-bike of Lesley Macinnes on Forrest Rd this morning.

    Good to see she's not put off by the cold.

    What might have been a couple of ten-pound notes lying on the towpath this morning at Meggetland. By the time I had realised what they probably were, it was too late to stop. Hopefully they will find their way back to whoever dropped them and/or go to a productive cause, one way or another.

    I overtook a group of young schoolchildren who were being escorted along the towpath in the direction of WHEC this morning, receiving a chorus of "nice bike"s in passing.

    Twenty-odd young people with about ten of them wearing head torches walking along the WoL from the Sandport yesterday evening.

    An Urban Arrow on Buccleuch Street last night with an adult passenger in the bucket, and Kim on his UA on MMW this morning in the frrrrreezing frost. They're breeding, I think.

    I played leap frog with Hankchief on Monday night. I was in the car sadly so he was unaware.

    Reciprocal spot of Unhurt on the meadows. Both of us in lovely worlds of cycling bliss (or clearly anticipating the dentist?) so didn't notice each other until last moment. But nods were exchanged.

    Cllr Macinnes flying up Gilmerton Road. I caught up, and had a quick chat, but it was bloody hard work.

    Brief catch up with Big John on the towpath. I think we agreed that The Favourite is our favourite film of 2019 so far. He enjoyed Stan and Ollie rather more than I did.

    Er, that was a sleeping bag

    Also, the other waiting bus pax were slightly bemused by a passing cyclist shouting something inaudible & me mumbling “hi” back

    @neddie, ah yes I get those two things confused. Plus never seen you with either item before.
