Tram testing starts tonight on Leith Walk: https://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/tramstonewhaven/news/article/407/testing-and-commissioning

Please note, this is not a public event. There will be no access for the public onto or near the tram but please exercise caution if you are in the vicinity. A controlled zone will be managed around the tram by traffic marshalls and staff will be carrying out specialised tasks. The results of this phase of testing will then be analysed to ensure the tram is operating as expected.

    Entertaining though…

Be aware if you're crossing over the York Place junction to go down Broughton Street, there's a big effing trench(utility?) across most of the road that's not covered and is deep enough to properly wonky-up a wheel.

Dammit, beat to me to it! Nothing gets past you, chdot! ;-)

Good to see this further progress, hopefully it might mean that the route opening to passenger service could perhaps then come a bit sooner than currently estimated.

Edinburgh’s new tram line had almost 600 defects to be fixed just weeks ahead of its planned opening, it has emerged. The council has admitted there are ongoing disputes with the contractor over issues.

    Beware trams

Standard timetable testing will continue on the route in the run-up to the launch of services on 7 June.

Mr Lowder also added that the next phase of the Edinburgh tram network would add a Granton link due to it being the easiest to achieve. The link between Haymarket in the west of the city and Granton was initially held back due to a lack of funding.

That will be a factor amongst several.

Strongest ‘reason’ is that it ‘parliamentary approval is already in place.

The “business case” will be important - as will the parameters that guide what is assessed.

There will be a lot of ‘if journey time is x it will attract y passengers’.

It goes down what was an urban railway,

He means “ it goes down a popular cycle path”

If the tram goes down the Roseburn path, it will decimate active travel. We must fight it with every breath

Bristol's mayor has defended plans for an underground rail network expected to cost between £7bn and £18bn.

Marvin Rees says he will carry on pushing for a mass transit system in the city until he is "definitively told a business case doesn't stack up".

I'd be interested to know how many of the 65,000 arrived by car

Anecdotally heard one mother talking about how it took her husband 40 minutes to find them as he "kept getting moved on" in his car! She described it as a "nightmare"

Like, what makes you think you are so special, that somehow you can get a car anywhere near 65,000 other people?
