Long story, quick version at the bottom:
I'm building up an old steel frame into a basic road bike - nothing fancy, frame is a late 90s trek and I've already gotten most of the small bits and pieces out the bikestation.
The BB I picked up fits the frame fine but the cranks (old Shimano Altus triple) bottom out against the BB shell. I measured the axle at ~110mm wide and I'm pretty sure that a 122mm axle will be needed for the cranks to fit the taper. The cranks are in great shape for something out the bikestation, don't seem to have seen much if any real use, and their not absurdly heavy either. So I'd ideally hold onto them and find a matching BB. I do recall once buying a 122mm for all of £4 off chainreaction, but they seem to be scarce now and I'm looking at at least £10, which is the point where I'd rather just go and get another set of cranks for the existing BB. So it'd be grand if someone has a spare 68x122mm BB lying around for me. Will pay up to £5.
Wheels are also proving a bit of a pain to find. I'm looking at the lowest end stuff here so I can at least get the bike running and worry about upgrades later when I have more cash. That means for now I've settled for 10mm solid/bolted axles and a screw on freewheel (ugh..). Bikestation has these for £10 but they're pretty grotty. I can get a new set for £35 delivered online, which is looking like the best option just now, but I would take a secondhand wheel as long as it's in half decent shape.
Quick version
I need:
A square taper BB with a 122mm axle. Will pay up to £5.
Front and back 700c wheels with solid/bolted axles, screw on freewheel type. Will pay up to £10 per wheel.
Thanks.
