I am emailing on behalf of Theatre Delicatessen; we are bringing our play, Pedal Pusher, to the Fringe Festival this year and we are keen to push the play to local cyclist - the play tells the story of Marco Pantani, Lance Armstrong and Jan Ullrich and their battle for dominance. This is the email that we have sent to local clubs:
Dear Fellow Cyclists,
We are writing with an invitation to you to come and see Pedal Pusher - a new play about the Tour de France that is transferring from London to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this Summer.
Pedal Pusher tells the true story of the battles between Marco Pantani, Jan Ullrich and Lance Armstrong to become champion of the Tour De France. Based on interviews, archive footage and news reports Pedal Pusher uses devised performance and physical theatre to carry the audience through the mountains, the sprints, the crashes and into the intriguing dangerous world of professional sport.
Pedal Pusher was first staged in London last year, to great critical acclaim. Time Out Londonheralded it as the DIY Hit of 2009, describing the piece as “An intelligent and inspired production that doesn’t let you go”. The Guardian website called Pedal Pusher "Theatrical Revolution" and road.cc said, “…it was brilliant, an exhilarating, informative fact-packed Tour de Force.”
To help launch our Edinburgh run we would like to invite local cycle clubs to a preview performance on Sunday 8th August. We have negotiated a special 2for1 deal on tickets on the day - just get in touch with the Zoo Venue box office with details of your club quoting bike club offer.
In return we’d love it if you (and your bikes) could join us to take part in a photo-shoot for the show - we think a photo with our cast and whole bunch of local cyclists would be a great way to launch our Edinburgh run.
There are more details about our show at http://www.theatredelicatessen.co.uk/pedalpusher or the Zoo Venues website http://www.zoofestival.co.uk/. We had a really good response from cycling clubs in London last year, so it would be great if you could come along and let us know what you think.
If you have any questions, or would like any further info, please drop us a line.
Best wishes,
Roland and Josh,
Theatre Delicatessen
