Small foldable bike requires and is free to a new home. In stupidly good repair considering it was saved from the tip. Only issue is that I had to jimmy the seat post so I don't think it's terribly adjustable but seems okay for someone between 5 and 6 feet. Sturmey Archer gear hub and working bottle dynamo with front and rear lights.

Free to a good home and I could possibly even deliver to Edinburgh as it would make an interesting commute one morning.

    Anyone interested?

I can just come over one morning and stick it on my trailer, if that's easier? I commute in to the shore but it would be a pleasant diversion...

If you hadn't called dibs I was going to offer to collect it in my trailer for the CCEr that did, but since it's your ludicrously milehungry self...

No, please, please, please make him commute on it. I really want to ride beside him filming the whole thing.

Oh, you cheeky chappy Insto! I think Dalmeny Estate on Sturmey Archers could be hazerdous to health. That said, it would be a bit of a laugh.

    Dave, PM replied details.

What time do you folk leave for town?

I can arrange to get in for nine if necessary, or half eight as customary.

I guess 7.30 or a little after might be prudent..

Ach, we're early doors, but my wife works from home so she'll be about give or take.

OK. I'll take a look at possible routes over the water (I guess another option is to get the train out, walk down from the station and ride it back).

Or possibly just drive over one evening!

I tell you what, I shall ride it in either tomorrow or Wednesday for the gratification of Mr Insto and the challenge. I'll park it at work and we can then arrange pick up from there. I work on Lothian Road.

What's the make and model out of interest?

Sounds good to me. I can make Lothian Rd from 17:30 onwards if that suits. I'll just bring the trailer and strap it down though, as if I get the bus to ride it home, that will add around an hour to the earliest I can get to you.

Make and model are non-descript or I can't remember. There's a picture in the link at the top of the thread.

Dave, 17:30, jeez, that's pushing the boat out. I'm not usually seen for dust around these parts after half four. Early morning, arrive in central Edin, between 8 and 8:30 or can do lunchtimes.

Or you could arrange for someone usually still around at half past five to unlock it and remove it from the car park...
(Albeit not me tomorrow or Wednesday as I'm not back in until Thursday.)

Lock it somewhere with a combo lock, PM the combo to other party, lock left by latter for retrieval following day by former?

Ooh, that is innovative thinking Kap. I like it.

If tomorrow suits, why don't I meet you at your office between 8 and 8.30? That would be simple, and I can tank it down to Leith afterwards.

Roughly what we did when I lent tandem to MP/MSP during POp. Worked so well, I have gone out and bought another combination lock.

Dave, sounds like a plan. If we say nearer 8:30 to compensate for cycling on a slower bike than usual and I can just get showered and changed before hand if I make good time. I'll PM you details of location and phone number.

Well that certainly was a challenge. Especially getting up out of the Dalmeny Estate but point proved, it can be done. Certainly conditions different muscle groups sitting in a different stance.

I believe Insto may have extensive moving picture footage and I did have to do the obligatory HUB (Held Up Bike) shot for the end of a bike challenge.

I think Insto captured the mood of the ride far better than I with this photo.

I'd have no knees left if I tried to ride that distance at that saddle height. Bendy chapeau!
