Come along to Dirleton Castle Gardens on Sunday 23rd June 2013 and celebrate the Year of Natural Scotland.

There will be a host of fun-filled activities for all the family taking place from 12:00 – 4:00.

Join the butterfly and bee hunt, make your very own insect hotel and take the tree trail challenge with the Historic Scotland Rangers. Anne O’Brien will entertain with tales about her Anniemals, a range of endangered creature puppets from around the world, made from recycled clothes.

Take a walk with Geologist Angus Miller who will show evidence of the ancient volcanoes which made East Lothian what it is today; meet members of the Marine Conservation Society who work to protect our seas, shores and wildlife, visit their seashore touch table and make your very own turtle finger puppet.

Learn more about the fascinating wildlife that lives in East Lothian with the East Lothian Rangers and test your knowledge in the nature quiz. Members of the Lothian and Borders GeoConservation will also be on hand to share their knowledge about the unique geology of East Lothian.

Anna Pugh, Assistant Events Manager at Historic Scotland said: “As well as finding out more about Scotland’s amazing wildlife you can meet some more exotic creatures with Animates and Totora the Tarantula, Hercules the Giant Land Snail or Pog the Bearded Dragon in the beautiful setting of Dirleton Castle Gardens.

“You will also have the chance to create your own creature crafts, test your nature knowledge, follow the clues of the Castle Tree Trail and go wild in the garden!.”

Entry is included in the price of admission.
