The village cinema I help run in Balerno put on Janapar with a good Q and A session from the filmmaker afterwards, last night. Good mix of our regular audience and blow ins from elsewhere, including Jim from Torphicen, big Ged in most fetching tweed, one of the festival of cycling organisers and The Generous Kings. I supplied the Ribera Del Duero from Aldi which was companionable and the evening was very enjoyable.

The film is a meditation on cycling and living. In the edit of all the footage Tom shot of himself cycling in Armenia, Georgia, Sudan, Ethiopia, Yemen, Iran etc, he comes over as willing to trust in the kindness of other homosapiens. He has also written a book about his travels. Seems to have been quite lucky, few punctures and one mechanical failure on the trailer after 3 y 6 m. also not to spoil the ending but could be happy.

We always applaud the movie at Balerno Village Screen but I confess I sometimes start the clapping. Last night the 90 + audience erupted in rapturous and spontaneous appreciation. Tom said that always happens. if you get the chance to see the movie go for it
