    Not really, just go down the gears. Dutch headwinds will have been ample training! And at least you're guaranteed a downhill, whereas tailwinds are much more elusive...

    * anything you can reccomend (specific for cyclists?

    I think if you're Dutch Edinburgh won't feel that friendly for cycling - perhaps the best thing would be a map of the off-road paths and a route to get them out of town as quickly as possible ...

    Absolutely not!

    Although it's not as bad as some parts of the UK, saying Edinburgh is a nice place to cycle is like recommending Islamabad because the riots aren't quite as bad as in Cairo.
