It's fair Monday in the west but I must travel to the east on a mission.

I'll be on the Airdrie -Bathgate line.

Going to pick up a new Brompton M6R from BikeTrax. It's been there for two weeks but I was in Dorset and Wales. One of my Bromptons is still in Wales as we had to use the wee car and there was no space to bring it and weans home. It should be back here by the end of the week.

Google walking directions from Haymarket to Lochrin Pl don't want me to use Morrison St for some reason.

May be better to go Fountainbridge > Ponton St > Thornybauk, as the cut-through by the school was shut last week for some sort of building works. I'm not sure if it's back open yet.

This variation would let you see the amazing zig-zig ramp -

(Ignore ridiculous diversion between 3 and 4 - OSM must be missing a node connection.

Mr Srd plus microSRD are taking the tandem in for a new tube and possible rear tyre. Do say hi if you see them. You're most welcome to have a go on the tandem if it's been fixed.

Re: OSM node, looks like the bottom of McEwan Sq is a bit suspect with the link up to the path.

"looks like the bottom of McEwan Sq is a bit suspect"

    I'll look at OSM later.

Might mirror real life issue of not knowing if you're supposed to be on wide pavement or road here!

The zig zag route looks a bit ziggy and zaggy.

If Mr and Micro SRD see a guy in a Tilley, grey Craghopper long shorts and black t shirt wearing sandals then that could be me.

Ohhhh that's interesting. The CycleStreets web page could tell that I have the app installed and gave me the option of opening the app instead.

Why does Curry's in Edinburgh Park have their sign on backwards?

    EDIT. Oh, that's Hermiston Gait.

Why does Curry's in Edinburgh Park have their sign on backwards

Because it's closed and they're converting it to a TK Max

To wildly skew the topic of conversation; gave my new Tilley its first real use in Norway last fortnight. What a brilliant hat. Seems weird to think that something so simple could work so well...

I like my Tilley best for rain. Much better than a hood.

Brompton acquired. I think I used the chdot route but missed one turn and had to back track. The iPod had a better idea of where I was than I expected. Had to sort out some paper work at BikeTrax and then it was off. The guy decided there was no need to show me how to fold/unfold it. Took it for a wee spin to check everything worked.

Missed a train at Waverly because i couldn't find the platform in time so now sitting on the next one.

A chap engaged me in conversation on the platform because he liked the look of the bike. After a wee while it turned out he had followed me to the wrong train.

Tempted to get the winter Tilley with ear flaps. Memsahib borrowed my T3 at Chester zoo on Saturday and wondered what other colours they come in.

Edinburgh was not closed today, but it was exceptionally quiet on my commute this morning, trundled down the WoL Path on three speed, then canal then road and was not overtaken by another bicycle.

It cannot be Fair Monday as it is not raining.

TK Maxxxx at Hermie Gait I can hardly contain my excitement that the jumble sale that is on every day has hit south west edinburgh. I also have a five pound Decathlon voucher to spend (will buy six bars of Ritter Sport once the choclate runs out in the house). Also request for Rice Krispy Multi-Grain shapes which are not stocked in Scotmid anymore nor Sainsburys at St Andrews Sq. but will get them at Tesco Hermie Gait, now what do I not need in B and Q and when does the TK open?.

Hmmmm, Ritter Sport. Have you been listening to Fags, Mags and Bags on the wireless?

Asda had 510g Rice Krispies for £1 last night. Can't remember how much the Muti Grains were. I had to get both types.

Cereal wars - I ended up with Variety Pack for £1.03 from Sainsburys, just to avoid a second shop [only one box Multi Grains but Loops and indded anythign in its own wee box acceptable to third child]. Second child not so easily pleased. For details of my Weeto Expriments, see below for complete schedule

    Gembo's Weeto Experiments

    Condition 1
Buy box of 95p Aldi's own Weetos. Take plastic bag and weetos therein out of box. Give Aldi box back to bemused checkout person. Cycle home with Aldi Weetos. Surreptitiously insert Aldi Weetos into Weetabix Weeto box. Observe son next morning at breakfast.

Observation - Son takes mouthful, look of consternation crosses over face, looks at box, pauses. Then happly continues and eats whole bowl of aldi weetos.

Condition2 [first bit must be filmed]
Buy Weetos Weetabix, take bag out and put into Aldi's box. Next morning at breakfast insist son tries the Aldi's Weetos.

Observation - Son says they wont be the same dad. Go on son try them. Son tries them, takes one mouthful, no dad they are not right. Show son film. Son says No way dad, you have doctored that footage....

    So much for controlled trials

but you gave the aldi's box to the checkout person!

we just make them eat porridge (unless temp goes above 20C when I refuse to as well)

Mine will eat Aldi Krisp Rice but prefer Kellogg's.

I like Scott's old fashioned oats, the specially thick kind. I'll eat other porridge if no Scott's are available.. Temp makes no odds. I eat porridge all year.

Sorry, I really wasn't there for long. Just had to do a wee bit of paperwork and then I was offski. I spent longer in Waverly.

Can alter condition one to folding Aldi box and taking it home in the other pannier.

Scott's old fashioned very big and well formed oats. Lovely. But I find with My new microwave I get a better consistency with smaller oats, Scott's, co-operative or sainsburys. Take summer off as don't need slow release so much during school hols. Currently on crunchy nut cornflakes but will go sugar puffs dependent on deals. I am hoping porridge takes its vice like grip. It worked with my partner. With porridge the long game important. Forcing it on my kids could put them off for life. I am hoping as adults they go For it. Even those ridiculous wee individual sachets if that is what it takes

    @ sally hinch

    Good website

Did design a trial to test whether blue smarties taste different or indeed cause you to Act differently compared to othwr smarties. The beauty of the design was it could be done by one person. Involved turntable, matchbox, blindfold etc.

Also proved to sceptical colleagues in a single blind trial that I can tell the difference between mcvities Jaffa cakes and other brands. Actually I had some Tesco own brand jaffas today that were very close

Me too. Co-op own brand. I used to alternate with weetabiccies (Sinsberries own the closest to Weetabix™) but I grew tired of the mushy carboardiness of weetabiccies.

It was quiet today, except London Rd about 5.30pm, though not as hoaching as usual. I like the city when it's quiet: nice contrast to the imminent festival madness.

Bahlsens oblong jaffa cakes are far nicer, you can certainly tell the difference. Jumbo oats from Real Foods make the best breakfast. Add fruit poached with some spice, and a bit of yoghurt, for a breakfast fit for a king. Though possibly not for a fussy child. In other news today I managed to recreate coffee flavoured yoghurt as experienced on Tyrolean holiday, superb stuff, that'll be tomorrow's breakfast. Also enjoying the relative quiet before the storm breaks.

Stoats blended oats for us usually. otherwise scotmid or whatever else is about. usually with one of - chopped dried apples, apricots, or cherries added while cooking. or frozen or fresh berries added to bowl.

M&S jaffa cakes have better quality chocolate and sharper orange?

Sounds like we need gembo to organise us a jaffa cakes taste test.
