Isn't the annoying thing about rain at this time of year that you have no choice to get wet? It's so warm that if you put on waterproofs you end up in a sodden sauna inside them, and if you do without you get soaked from the rain. When it's raining in winter, it's cold and you don't get so sweaty underneath the waterproofs. At least then there's a choice about keeping dry.

Yesterday I wore a waterproof jacket and Goretex trousers. The jacket kept the sweat in and soaked my top half. The trousers channelled most of the rain into my boots and let the rest through onto my shorts.. When I got to work I changed everything I was wearing.

@Greenroofer - oh totally agree on the sauna thing
one time I got so sick of the sauna inside the waterproofs I said sod it and wore only the dreaded high vis vest which is pretty porous, a pair of swimming shorts and pool side flip flops
the day before had been just horrendous with the torrential rain soaking me by the time I hit Haymarket, feeling the puddles splash up into the shoes and make them slosh like lakes and pouring the excess waster out when I reached work was not pleasant
the puddles went in the front of the speedo pool flip flops and out the back
I was even tempted to break out the shower gel at the lights at haymarket cos they stop you for aaaages
would have amused drivers and during the time of the festival 50% of people wouldn't think I was mental...
when it is this warm it is pointless getting water proofed

Aaaannddd according to the met office the rain is to die down.... But the wind is getting up and it is of course westerly so a head wind all the way home.

okay, it was fun, now it's getting a little old. :/ It's hell on my brake blocks too, there's a layer of grey goop round my rims from the gravelly mud dissolving my pads... and my rear gear cable snapped... and... and...

yep, and they aren't in the hottest state to begin with.

may not ride home today, the thought of a headwind, only using my front gears and having no effective back brake doesn't exactly warm the cockles.
