KB is showing below 960 - but doesn't seem to have anticipated the possibility

Elvis has lost his bottom half!

Presumably the revision from yesterday means the south has had its wind(?)

  5. Bit gusty riding in but seems to be building a little bit more now (I live on the 7th floor of our office, you get to know the wind intimately). Some dark grey cloud swallowing up the view as well, so that snow may well be on its way.

Took the canal, it was fine. Some hail showers at Wester Hailes (no, really!) then Sleet and Snow towards the Gyle. Then rain.

You guys are working today, that's a bit of a shame?

It's blue skies and sunshine out at the Gyle for now!

Enjoyed a little spin on my mtb this morning around Lymphoy-Cockburnhill-Threipmuir-Harlaw-Clubbiedean-Torduff. Quite sheltered going out, a complete blast coming back. Harlaw in particular very wild :)

That earth.nullschool.net website is pretty cool for showing you the wind all over the world. It's fair to say right now we're getting a battering in comparison to most other places.

It lets you wind it backwards, too. Take it back to either 6am or 9am on 05-Dec which was the day of the storm, and check out those winds heading east!

However, when you look at the scale of winds (click "earth" in the bottom corner), what we have is still quite pathetic in the overall grand scheme of things, thankfully.

  17. Any turn south today (which I have to do to get onto the Innocent) was a slog into the wind. Should be interesting on the exposed coast at Bo'ness on Sunday...

back on the commute out to the Gyle this morning after nearly three weeks holiday/paternity leave. Only passed one other cyclist and 3 dog walkers.

Looking out the window at the moment, I'm not looking forward to the journey home.

A FLOOD ALERT has been issued for Edinburgh and Lothians.

High astronomical tides, coupled with a large storm surge forecast will affect the Forth estuary during Saturday afternoon and may affect low lying areas along the Firth of Forth. High tides are expected at around 4pm in this area.

Yesterday's commute felt harder than the amber alert day in mid December. Not more hairy; I thought the wind was more predictable, so it was just a grind, but I've not yet put the lights back onto the Croix, so took wintersaurus instead. That was dumb.

Ach, dammit, I was going to post a smartypants physics answer too, but Chdot's got in first and his was better than mine.

Alright then, who was the 24 hour cowboy?

This joke only works if you are quite old and come from the west of Scotland as you will a) need to know who the actor was and b) need to pronounce his name the right way

Made one war movie where he played himself (most decorated US soldier of WW2 medals not wallpaper) then mostly cowboys. Died in plane crash 23 days shy of his 46th birthday in 1971

Going to trundle from Cramond eastwards today around high tide to see what this tidal surge has to offer.
