BBC weather app saying heavy snow NOW. But it's just rain so far.

Sleeting in That Roslin this evening, and hearing reports of sleet at Fairmilehead too.

Definitely sleet in Balerno about half eight. Was rain by the time I was in town, but COLD rain. Not a single soul on the WoL between Balerno and Slateford, not even a weatherproofed dog walker. I am crossing fingers for snow...

No sign of sleet or ice across the meadows and bridges just now but the night is young

A little snow lying on the grass and cars in EH9.

Looks more damp than icy, thankfully, but be aware of you are out and about later.

It was fairly heavy through the night but more watery now. Treacherous if you are out on foot or bike.mtake care

Towpath very white, sparkly and crunchy all the way from Meggetland to the Scott Russell Aqueduct at 0745.

There are many patches of shiny ice too, so I'd say it's likely to be a bit of a white-knuckle ride if you've not got studded tyres.

    Bloody freezing.
I'm at work just for today. The trains aren't running to Livingston North but they are to Livingston South so I then had a nervous half an hour getting here. Roads OK just about and traffic light so could have been worse...

MISERY for residents of Lochend Butterfly, whose Way is a bit frosty and has a bit of icy puddle at the crossroads by the Sainsbury cut-through. Misery for dogwalkers on Restalrig Railway Path, which has a frosty slope. Chaos on Leith Links.

I don't want to be a climate alarmist or anything, but for the second year in a row it was too warm to put the champagne outside to chill at Christmas. Lyon is supposed to have a continental climate - bitterly cold dry winters with air flowing down off the Alps.

Lunch outdoors in the sunshine on the 26th. Something is not right.

I'm not sure you can be an "alarmist" when there's actually an emergency going on.

I took a wee tumble earlier today between thriepmuir and Harlaw as very icy up there. Beautiful wth all the snow frozen on the branches. Fields all white and the half moon shimmering in silver.

@chdot. What a nice story. No permanent markings, not selling anything, no politicising, just an outbreak of cheeriness and high spirits. Good for them.

A snow warning has been issued for Scotland’s two largest cities as temperatures are set to plunge.

The Met Office issued a yellow warning for tomorrow, predicting snowfall across Edinburgh and the Lothians, Glasgow and Strathclyde and the Scottish Borders.

Very light snow at halfish eightish morning around the top of Leith. Actual settled snow a Last Jedi later outside the Omni. All melted on the bike lane higher up, buy some slush on the bit near Pilrig Street.

Twitter suggests some Edinburgh roads sheer ice. Be careful out there.

FWIW the Met Office forecast shows nothing like 80mph winds in Edinburgh on Sunday.

"Met Office forecast shows nothing like 80mph winds in Edinburgh on Sunday"

Indeed, might be quite pleasant -

    (Nice bike pic)

"The first snow layer is scary and it can be challenging driving conditions, but we do not send out an OBS alert. It's winter, we expect people to know that it can get a bit difficult in traffic when it's snowy, "says Moxnes.
