It's been mild this weekend (if blowy). Due to get cold the rest of the week though, starting tonight. Good chance of black ice tomorrow after the rain today.

Woke at 3am and checked out the window and it was a little frosty but not anything bad. Woke again at 4:30 to cycle to the train station and there was a light covering in Colinton and a few drifts heading down into town but nothing serious.

NMW and MMW was pretty slippy with frost - assuming it's never gritted these days? George IV Bridge was fine. If temp drops seriously in the next few hours I'd expect there to be more ice forming.

A disappointing lack of promised snow here in town - Met Office claims it is falling right now but I hear rain. Inner child feels cheated!

You should come out to Balerno from your shandy drinking southerner, well Stockbridge position. Falling thickly in the night and sticking and falling again now

Progressively worse snow the further West you go.

But whatbsnow there is in Ravelston Dykes is very treacherous

    Stay safe everyone

@gembo I have just had pictures of the Real Balerno Snow (tm) from the brother. Looks nice, old dog stomping about in it like a decrepit wolf.

Similar levels of snow from Eskbank to KB (about 1cm). It's snowing hard again now.

My snow (aka rust) bike seemed to cope okay but nearly slipped over when I was walking from the bike shed

Inverleith Park, Craigleith Hill Ave and Roseburn have snow sticking. Footways round Leith Links ice with snow on top. Balbirnie Place slightly crumpy underwheel.

Bleurgh - how can so much snow get blasted in your eyes when you have glasses on? Snow starting to lie in town now.

Loadsa snow in Livingston. But road clear enough to cycle in car tyre tracks. I pulled over 2 - 3 times to let queues clear - some drivers were obviously happy to overtake, others were obviously not!

Blue sky with light cloud over Heriot-Watt just now although it was still snowing when I arrived by bus a little while ago, but nowhere near as heavily as when I got onto the bus in town. I'm fairly glad not to have attempted to cycle primarily due to the lack of visibility since it doesn't really feel all that slippy (underfoot at least), yet...

Surprised that Mayfield Road pavements haven't been gritted.

Yes, but in exchange you have to let CCE pick the title of Volume 3 for you.

I walked home through town fairly late last night and there was no sign of any gritting action at that point.

You weren't wrong about the meadows. From Loanhead to Gorgie, going east to west on the meadows was the worst part of the journey. Sludge and ice, not a bit of grit.

Well, maybe the canal was a bit worse...but that's a given...

Predictable rubbish driving on the freshly-fallen snow from the rat-runners on our street this morning. I spent an entertaining half hour watching a minibus attempting to ascend the north-facing slope. Several cars were forced to wait while it fishtailed back and forth across the road. It didn't seem to occur to anyone to get out and lend a hand, or a shoulder - I suspect that no-one had a shovel, sacking or anything useful like that anyway. (I would have gone out to help but I was still in my dressing gown.) The driver of a taxi coming the other way decided that the solution was to drive on the pavement. In the snow. What could possibly go wrong? (It's not as if there aren't fairly straightforward alternative routes if that one 50m stretch is impassible.)

I was at Hermiston Gait at the weekend and noticed a parked-up car with the front tyres down to the wear indicators (it had been left with the front wheels at full lock). How can anyone think that it's sensible to let their car get like that, at this time of year, in Scotland?

I was pleasantly surprised at how much space and time I was given whilst I cycled down Gilmerton Road and up Minto Street this morning. I stayed well out of the cycle lanes, which were filled with slush, and this would normally lead to some fast close passes, but not today.

My commute from Clerwood was fairly easy this morning. I was very surprised at the problems for lots of drivers on Clerwood View as loads of them were finding it difficult to get any traction. I wheeled my bike on the pavement at that bit.

Silverknowes path had been gritted although some bits not very well.

Once I got to Craigleith the roads were absolutely perfect despite the blizzard.

The Innocent as far as Duddingston Park South was very clear, beyond that (ie behind Magdalene) zero grit, totally covered - i just went on the road.

Crossing WAR this am in a light blizzard, I noticed that the car traffic was going at a sensible speed.

There's a pic on this link of a beached car at Hermitage Drive - is that Edinburgh's Hermitage Drive?
