It isn't freezing in the sense that I saw water that was not frozen. There's obviously been a scattering of snow overnight in Livingston but it is nearly all melted.
Given that this weather is coming from the east my reports from Livingston will be less relevant!

Our advance warning system has a fatal flaw.

Bonnyrigg to Crewe Toll on 30mm studded tyres but could have easily got away with slicks this morning. See what tomorrow brings.

The worst of the weather is expected on Wednesday and Thursday, with Police Scotland warning of potential disruption to trunk roads and urging people to only travel if necessary.

The towpath was indeed pretty much fine this morning all the way to Heriot-Watt, although a cyclist ahead of me skidded a little while braking to avoid a pedestrian exiting from under a bridge ahead of us. It was even more fine when I headed back from the picket a little before midday.

17mph tailwind on the way home apparently! Shame I'm still feeling knackered after the weekend's (and this morning's) exertions, could be good for a personal best along Burnshot Road otherwise...

There have been travel warnings. No unnecessary travel. Expect delays. Take your survival blanket and a thermos.

    Did these include cyclists?

    Bet they didn't.

"Take your survival blanket and a thermos."

Yeah I'll remember that when I board the train, which during the last snowmaggeddon in 2010, got me to work just fine. Most of my car driving colleagues were allegedly "snowed in"...

@chdot, I ignored that, I am on train leaving York, there has been a smattering of snow and the odd shower. But mostly glorious sunshine. Train is hoaching as the one before was cancelled

"Maybe that’s a warning for tomorrow"

Aye but if you dig into the details they are mostly just shortening routes by clipping bits off either end in order to improve reliability.

Unless we see crazily low temperatures I expect the railways will be largely normal, if quieter than usual as folk heed the "do not travel" warnings. Said warnings are really "do not drive" notices.

Our youngest has been enjoying this afternoon's snow. She made a mini-snowman on the way home from school and brought him home to photograph. When I told her there'd be more snow tomorrow and Thursday, the response was a resounding "YES!"

Put the spikey front tyre on this morning. Didn't need to for the 8am commute, the Conti 4 Seasons would have been fine. Was very glad of having it on the way back tonight though. Seems it'll be even more necessary tomz...

Would have been sensible to have parked it under cover but got caught out between trips. Slight dusting in comparison to chdot's Moulton.

Circe Helios with large cargo rack + dusting of snow
