Was hailing an hour ago as I cycled to Murrayfield. Sharp wee things.

Sunny day yesterday. Time for a gentle ride to Cramond.

1 mile - bit chilly, but I'll warm up
    2 miles - why didn't I wear winter trousers?
    3 miles - why didn't I wear a winter jacket?
4 miles - my fingers are cold in these medium weight gloves
7 miles - my fingers are numb

    (Turning back from Cramond)
    That east wind's from Siberia
Looking south-west - Pentlands have a good coat of snow

Home - hot shower, hot drink, drape myself in wool, sit 2 inches from the fire. Takes about 4 hours to warm up again.

Teeny tiny little speckles of slightly cold not-quite-water in EH1 just now. It's not lasting long enough on any service to verify that it was frozen but it's falling ever so slightly more slowly than normal liquid rain.

Heavy but tiny flakes of snow falling in the Borders. No real sign of it sticking on anything other than high ground at the moment but it is set to continue/worsen.

Cycled this morning through freezing wind and light sleet in Gorgie Road.

Excellent. Did you have that thing where you keep trying to zip up your fully zipped-up jacket? I did.

Almost glad I'm not well enough to venture out!

The forecasters are saying there will be spring like temperatures later in the week. May not be sunny and warm though.

I keep on forgetting to close my armpit zips. Always open for air on way up hill to work, then always forget to close at end of day - on the way down Dundas Street they allow an icy blast up the oxters.

With my other half I attempted a zoom around East Lothian (for some values of zoom). The snow was so tenacious we bailed after 30 miles and caught the train home at Prestonpans. Dreadful.

At least we had a nice restorative lunch in the Laterne Rouge in Gifford (along with many other damp/frozen cyclists)

My bike's drivetrain now sounds like someone is jangling a bag of spanners :(

I turned back yesterday at Haddington in the face of an oncoming snow storm. Most riders I saw had the good grace to look at least as cold as me but there were a few wearing shorts.

That was a bit rubbish. Sleety headwind into Porty and the combination of high tide and wind meant the spray from breaking waves along Seafield was unavoidable. Drookit!

I actually cleaned and lubed the Scaffolding Bike before I had a hot bath yesterday. I feared total dissolution or perpetual encakement of the moving parts, and that was after dunking it in the Logan Burn to get the sticky WoL mud off it.

You don't just take the bike into the bath with you?

I did once degrease all my components in the bath in another life. The bike's components. My components wouldn't be noteworthy.

If you'd only degreased your own components once in a lifetime that would in fact be noteworthy.

Well that was an unpleasant few miles to the mothership. It's all very well being nice and warm inside the torpedo, except my glasses became full of snow on the outside and full of mist on the inside. I eventually pushed them up out of the way, and the nosepiece fell off and dropped down deep inside the transmission tunnel, and then I still couldn't see because my eyeballs became full of snow instead.

It's April and I have a lovely crop of daffodils in my garden. HOW CAN IT STILL BE SNOWING?

@Arellcat - you need climate control on the Quest.

Did you go back from Gilmerton on Roslin path?

Actually I did, earlier today. I went to Dobbies on the Elephant Bike for gardeny stuff. The bike is also pretty good for brick hunting. :-)

Air pressure has dropped rapidly in the past 24 hours. Such pressure drops are often associated with atlantic storms and will often be accompanied by strong winds and heavy precipitation.

Anyone been on the towpath? I'm hoping it will just be quite wet and not snowy/icy.

Snow stuck on the roads out here last night, largely slush now but has been some traffic

Sleeting in Livingston. Snow lying on the ground but roads are clear.

The towpath was merely wet as I had hoped for, although it was wetter than I had anticipated in places. Very possibly more puddle than path along the west Wester Hailes stretch.

Do I REALLY have to go outside now? Really? Yuck.

A large lake has formed on WoL path at bottom of my garden in slight dip. Still tomorrow is the day to take off if forecast holds.

Urgh! But I need the bike both days, got stuff to shift and errands to run. Good luck with the WoL Loch.

ETA take of work or take off cycling to work? Met Office think tomorrow will be rather nice.
