Take off work and take off on your bike for a nice cycle somewhere in the dry.

Forecast saying thurs sunny for about a week now. Also next week no rain.

Last night I decid d to pretend it wasn't raining as had easterly, would have been better to have put the over trousers and over shoes on but I could not be bothered. Was a it damp when made it home.

Got really wet on the way home from swimming yesterday evening. Mr fimm had assured me that it wasn't going to rain so I didn't have my waterproofs.

Yesterday and today I'm been in full waterproofs for the commute. it has been OK. Got too hot going to the swimming pool on Monday!

I don't know how much more of this British summer time I can take.

Next week though, it is bizarrely the same temp and same overcast cloud all week? Like they could not be bothered changing it?

It snowed a few years ago in Balerno on June 17th

Absolutely Bogging would be my estimation of the weather. Overall I'd say it was in my top 10 least favourite commutes.

I think though that it says something about the weather in Edinburgh that actually it's been a while since I can remember two consecutive days I've had to wring out my merino underlayers.

Finally hauled myself out the door (flexi: abused?). Now office is doubling as a drying room. Olga who sells me coffee just looked at me with pity and said "why." - there was no question mark.

Ugh. Formerly Lilac Helmet Lady was struggling (yet still managing) to look cheerful when I passed her just before the Slateford Aqueduct. Courier Guy was wrapped up well enough that I couldn't even begin to detect his opinion. I remembered not to cycle through the puddle at Heriot-Watt that was deep enough to swamp horizontal pedals yesterday. I was glad to be wearing overshoes as I rolled through it.

I'm off today but had an extra couple of journeys through the rain yesterday evening to make up for it. I'd draped my stuff over chairs and radiators when I got home from work but it was all still basically soaking when I put it back on two hours later.

Working from home today but had to venture out to take small person to tennis (in thermals, buff, rain trousers etc...not sure he can move, but tennis courts flooded anyway).

Determined to also do quick errand to Morningside that I have been putting off.

Got there and discovered I had forgotten lock.

Luckily on folder and lovely man at Waitrose service desk kindly agreed to look after it while I rushed around.

Did I mention that the chain came off twice? bleargh.

What are the chances that midges will be delayed this year having such a late spring?

@bill. Such optimism. They will just speed up when the snow stops tomorrow.?

@bill, Highland midges are not subject to the normal rules of ecology or biology. They are Scotland's malign genii loci and exist on another plane except when visiting ours to bite us.

Wet snow really has got nothing going for it.

Have had to reschedule trip to Glasgow film theatre to see isle of dogs.

My soon to be brother in law tried to get me to see grand Budapest hotel there with him when it came out maybe three years back? But I went into St. John's to have my lungs drained instead.

Flights south tomorrow must also be in jeopardy.

Fietsclub. Mallorca trip a week Sunday not even safe

Was considering doing my Long Commute tomorrow. I don't think that will be happening...

    OT:
@gembo Saw Isle of dogs on Sunday at Cameo. Enjoyed it.
We watched Grand Budapest still back in Sydney (so >3.5y ago) at Orpheum "picture palace" -- my cinema of choice as their in-house-assembled boysenberry choc-tops were my favourite choc-tops around.

@bill back in 1994 I was invited to the cinema in Sydney by a prison officer who got chatting to me in the national library. Maybe just being friendly, I will never know as I declined as the officer was going to see Ladybird Ladybird by Ken Loach, a film I had seen and will not be watching again. As most of it seared in my memory.

Also ate some vegan ice cream for first time on that hol and indeed two dogs alcoholic lemonade in the Lord Nelson Tavern.

In more up to date news I was checking Lothian bus for disruptions as Mrs Garto is in town and not heard a bus for some time. On their website is picture of the drivers on bikes and also hilariously the news that the open top touring bus summer schedule starts this weekend.

So glad bought extra stocks of wood and coal tho ther day.

  26. Oh no! Cycling home to Livi tonight and got my road bike with me. It definitely wasn't forecasting snow that heavy even by this morning.

@galaxy, I would probably alter those plans if you have options? Cars are getting through Balerno but very carefully.

So my half a plan to head out to Balerno tonight in order to go to work via Green Cleuch and Flotterstone tomorrow may be over ambitious?

Snow is heavy but not lying, melting away when it hits surfaces, except inexplicably the roofs of parked cars.
