The slushpack is frozen here on the 73m contour. Treacherous.

Winter wonderland out in the hills. Towpath will be slippy?

  3. Made it home last night without too much incident. This morning was properly scary though, roads in Livi were extremely icy (paths would be impossible) and to top it off my front brake froze on me.

My road in Colinton was ridges of ice peaks with frozen ice in thr troughs which will no doubt melt as soon as the sun hits them.

Cycling fine if you take primary and head down the bus routes.

Gorgie road pretty icy still weirdly.

Towpath likely impassable but I didn't actually check. But it was VERY slushy last night and I guess that this'll create ice nightmare until the sun get's to it.

    I miss my studs :-(

As Arobcomp says expect anything but bus routes to be icy, very icy.

Oh and Haymarket Big Issue man mentioned that the Inch and Meadows were pretty tough riding this morning as well. He's a total gem.

Two of our 3 bikes that had studs are still en-studded, but luckily we don't have to go anywhere today...

Towpath that I can see looks icy/frozen slush in sections (unsurprisingly)

This must be the last outing for a while for my yaktrax! My street was an icerink as were many of the pavements on my way to work.

Horrible slushy cycle home last night. Bike and I got soaked. I got warm and dry in the house. Bike didn't. This morning bike was frozen solid! Had to pour warm water over the chain and derailleur to convince it to get going. Fine after that though! Although I cancelled my initial plans of laps of Arthur's Seat this morning in favour of a watt bike...

Roslin was a three-dimensional ice rink this morning, but 304 of Schwalbe's finest metal additions kept me upright. Once onto the main roads it was OK, just slow.

I didn't get my tea until 10pm last night, after working late, then shopping, shovelling snow, then extracting several pounds of compressed slush out of the torpedo's wheelarches, then sweeping a flood out of my garage, then fixing the headset on my crank forward bike.

Yes, plenty of snow/ice in Livingston just now. I expect it will all melt today.
Edinburgh roads were actually less slippy than they looked apart from where there was the remains of snow in the cycle lane.

I received a lift back into work today which saved me from slip-sliding my way on the crazy pavements to a bus stop. The sun feels nice and warm but there is still a chill to the breeze. Whilst I expect that the icy slush will mostly melt today, I wouldn't be at all surprised if some of the more shady and/or exposed sections of paths remain dicey.

Icy slush? We still have solid ice here in Fairmilehead! (180m spot height on Oxgangs Road.) Side roads same as described further up by ARobComp. Hopefully will be a bit easier to negotiate by this evening - the Met Office says it won't freeze again overnight.

@ejstubbs I possibly should have written ice and slush.

  16. Apologies for not being able to post a warning earlier.

Ice on at the top of Roseburn Gardens took me down on my left turn from Roseburn Terrace (Me and the steed seem fine.)

Coming up from Porty roads and paths were mostly dry let alone frosty or icy. My forecast check had suggested bright and mild, so I was maybe a wee bit foolishly off guard too.

The broomhouse path was treacherous and probably difficult with studied tyres as it was frozen solid slushed ridges in parts

Hmm. I was thinking of heading home with the laptop to work on a presentation. It's so sunny I was going to take a detour via Porty. But if it's going to hail on me...

Hail maybe focused on Heriot watt, sunshine on leith and environs

Perhaps. They are claiming at 48% chance of precipitation.

Only 37per cent in Balerno? I think Heriot watt is epicentre. Glorious out though roads bad with run off, pot holes and badly parked vehicles.

Is glorious so might still take pootle round the back roads.assuming snow melted

Just had a wander around the campus and wasn't hailed on. Pretty much everywhere that has been in direct sunshine is now clear whereas areas that have either been in the shade or have only received oblique sunshine appear relatively untouched - there is definitely still some slippery ice.

Hail showers now delayed until around 4 pm and 86% chance.

Went out when chance of precipitation was 0 per cent and was very lightly rained upon but it did go off. Sun still bright. Bright enough for me to get my early potatoes in the earth.

No signs of hail. All but the most stubborn patches of ice/slush/snow have now melted. I'm feeling good about cycling home in an hour. I just have to remember not to report my bike as being stolen when I go downstairs and find that it has vanished from the outdoor bike shelter from which I moved it inside before I left yesterday...

I overheated while riding home this afternoon, and actually went gloveless for a mile or two. The crank forward with the knobbly tyre on the back and the Ice Spiker on the front is incredibly slow. Just had a huge glass of vanilla chocolate milk and it was lovely.

This evening much of Fife awash in melt water floods, rivers at a very high level and fast flowing. Notice most of the snow has gone from Arthur's Seat due to today's gorgeous sunshine. Pentlands, Moorfoots and Lammermuirs still looking very white.

Weekend forecast looking nice and springlike.
