@threefromleith - I was skiing at Glencoe yesterday.

Lots of snow, but was incredibly warm - 13.5c - as well.

Its that odd time when its cold in the morning and can be warm in the evening.

I was rather cold cycling in yesterday but fairly ok this morning despite wearing the same short-sleeved base layer and cycling shorts both days, although I was running about 15 minutes later this morning which would have allowed for perhaps a degree or two of increased ambient temperature.

No rain in Abbeyhill yet but I don't like the look of that darkening sky. Thunderstorms forecast for later...

Rain and wet people running to shelter at Colinton.

As a matter of idle curiosity, do bicyclists get struck by lightning, like golfers?

struck by the difference in forecasts between met office and bbc weather app. yesterday and today.

BBC more apocalyptic yesterday and today. I'm finding Met office more reliable.

@srd if you were out in furthest west Lothian or south Lanarkshire yesterday the flash floods washed the farm tracks down onto main road. Have just had to replace my back tyre as worn out and obviously so given all the mud and gravel washed over the road that I had to ride across.. Central Edinburgh less affected? Though we had a fire alarm yesterday pm triggered maybe by atmospherics? And had to go and stand in the rain so damp. But not cold

@gembo having listed to the more or less podcast, i've been paying particular attention to the %s. Met office yesterday for central edinburgh was 20-30ish while BBC was 50-70ish (if i recall correctly). My sense is that Met office probability more plausible.

    same this afternoon?

currently sun and light rain! quite pleasant.

@srd yes, we were playing monopoly outside it was so hot.. Just at the crucial moment when I had Mayfair and the chipldren were skint, I had to go in as the washing machine was beeping. Came out, son landed on Mayfair and curiously he had acquired £1700 through robbing banks.

What sort of children have I raised?

On percentages, it did rain in central Edinburgh yesterday afternoon. But agree BBC do go for gloomier than reality forecasts since Michael Fish hurricane mistake.

If you play by every rule in the rule book (easiest done by playing online) it is a quick and brutal game

The new rule where any property can be auctioned is not a favourite. The free parking rule where you scoop all fines etc is partially liked (though not official)
