I think the twitter account is now run from an Amey office down south, hence the lack of actual information.

An unpleasantly gusty trip home including a couple of hairy moments at junctions.

A year ago Amey gave their reason for stopping their FRB cycleway closure reporting on twitter -- because they had set up an auto-retweet of Traffic Scotland's tweets, who they said would be doing the FRB reporting from now on.

Traffic Scotland have not shown any interest in doing so, as I've reminded Amey from time to time.

I asked Amey again this afternoon, but I expect they'll say the same as usual - oh we'll remind Traffic Scotland about this etc

Bridge Twitter seems to be more PR focussed than utility these days. I'm not sure why they need a or account.

When Feta tuped over, its likely that Amey's marketing team insisted on taking over the FRB twitter account, despite being incapable of tweeting anything other than PR shite.

Anyway the bridge controller is meeting Traffic Scotland tomorrow and will mention that they've been neglecting the agreed duty.

Deaf ears though, as Traffic Scotland remains a fully motorised reflection of the state of the nation.

A bit parky in Livingston this morning. People might want to be cautious at any known icy spots.

  9. Very cold this morning. So much so that my rear brake seized up. Happened a few times last year as well but thankfully the front was unaffected.

A bit of frost on the towpath and a bit of ice on the canal.

Frosty alongside the Innocent in places but the path itself is bone dry.

BBC predicting one day Jan 22nd to get light snow. Though does have temperatures as below zero a fair bit in the next two weeks.

I do find winter has shifted now to January and Feb. The former head actuary at Standard Life said he agreed with me. He then siad, in fact it is the only thing you have ever said that I agree with. I took this as a huge compliment.

One frozen puddle on Coatfield Lane and another on Coalhill (now free from scaffolding but likely to be infested with parked cars again before the day is out.

@jdanielp I was hoping you would read it before deciding if to bike/bus today :)
I was expecting a lot more frost/ice and upon leaving I said to Mr Bill 'I may see you shortly'. He will have to wait.

Not much moisture on roads or paths on my journey so therefore very little ice. Cold but a nice cycle :)

  23. @wingpig It's been nice having Coalhill back as the pedestrianised street that it still legally is, hasn't it?

I and my councillor have been trying for years to get the council to replace the missing* bollards, but have been roundly ignored.

Roads are pretty dry at the moment so I wouldn't expect anything major by way of ice*

It's very cold. In my flat. I think I need better curtains, or a truly enormous draft excluder.

Or wireless smart thermostatic radiator valves.

I think I have ruled them out on the grounds that a hot water bottle and a nice blanket are a lot cheaper and less complicated to service.
