Anyone been along the towpath yet this morning? I'm hoping that yesterday's minor precipitation came to nothing.

  6. Not on the towpath, but roads were no wetter than last week. Cold and dry this morning made for a really nice ride.

Frost on cars in EH6. Not in a rush this morning so I'll take a few minutes to switch bikes to the spikey one.

@jdanielp sorry I didn't have time to update the towpath conditions -- anyway as you probably saw it was sparkly but not too slippy.

@bill it was barely sparkly when I got there... The MET Office have issued a warning of ice for tomorrow morning I now see following rain this evening.

    Met Office issues ice warning

The Met Office has also issued a yellow weather warning for ice to Scotland, as temperatures dip below freezing.

This warning is in place from 12am to 12pm on Tuesday (22 Jan), covering Central, Tayside & Fife, Grampian, Highlands & Eilean Siar, Orkney & Shetland, SW Scotland, Lothian Borders and Strathclyde.

I expect it to be just like at 48 seconds in. Possibly without a yacht.

Ground is pretty wet but the forecast isn't that cold.

It's definitely feeling milder outside now than earlier on in the evening...

@bill thanks! I think I will probably take the 'plus' MTB today given that the forecast threatens a risk of more rain/possible snow around lunchtime...

1 degree when I left Eskbank this am. My wee road was sparkling but not very slippery. Main roads seemed fine.

Glad for the studs this morning. NCN was well gritted but all the off road routes to get to it were not, my street was a bit of an ice rink too.

    Now snowing in Livingston

@bill good to know! My impression of the towpath at 9 ish was that it seemed fairly sketchy in places (especially Slateford Aqueduct) so I don't know if it maybe got worse than when you were on it. I was stable on 27.5+ tyres, but the two people who had dismounted to push their bicycles across the aqueduct ahead of me were slipping in places.

Barely frosty on the trundle to Porty this AM. Some crispy puddles. Sea temps were "rule 2ing on entry". Brisk & refreshing!

It was trying to micro-snow at Gowkley Moss earlier, air temperature was about 2°C.
