The forecast last night showed heavy rain in Dunfermline from 8AM. It's still bone dry but I'm consoling myself in the thought that it will be really wet later.

Sluiced it as I left the house, then dried up. Canal deserted. Not so much as a dead rat.

I decided to head out a little earlier this morning in an attempt to beat the onslaught of rain pushing up from the SW, only to find that it started raining the minute I left the flat... I then proceeded to spend 5 minutes putting on my full waterproofs and set off, only for the rain to ease around 5 minutes into my journey and it was even sunny at one point. I ended up having to stop to remove my waterproof top because I was too hot. I should have removed the bottoms and overshoes too in retrospect.

I rode in today in exactly the same clothes I've been wearing for the last few weeks as it didn't seem to be inclement. Pretty wet on the ground, and at one point a bit of rain fell on me (in Gorgie, naturally), but on the whole it was not that exciting. Shoes damp as the bike doesn't have mudguards.

Tailwind seemed puny. However I can see from raintoday that the journey home might be a bit more moist!

Looking at the Met Off app, might not need to wait until 3.

My goodness, did I get wet tonight. Left Haymarket around 7pm and legged it for Dalmeny.

    Soggy.

Yes me too but could be worse, pupils from royal high were starting their cycle to Dumfries yesterday just as rain started. Nice trailers with their camping gear. Their duke of ed leader not telling me their route but guessing the new coast to coast.

There was supposed to be a football tournament for primary girls on the meadows starting in half an hour. Thankfully just heard it's been cancelled.

I have a rain gauge and when I emptied it last night at 11pm we had had 16cm. I just checked it now and we have had 29cm since! TWENTY NINE CENTIMETRES!

Min, that does seem to correlate to buckets in the attic, but:

Millimeters? A foot of rain is a lot, but would explain why my clothes were so heavy last night.

Incredibly, that appears to be true. However, maybe last night was making up for September's lack of rain.

I passed a person on what I suspect was a folding bike wearing a rain cape, which was unfortunately for them acting more like a sail. They were certainly easy to spot, though.

Thanks chdot, but can we do this some other time? My shoes are only just dry from Friday, my jacket leaks and I'm not sure where my waterproof gloves are.

That was outstandingly wet. Fun so long as you know you're only 10 minutes home to a hot shower and a change of clothes.

Bizarre. it sprinkled here, but luckily for us, given state of our roof, i don't think it poured.

It sprinkled with extreme prejudice on me! I was on foot so just trudged through it.

@ed1. Make it along to a Dr Bike type event and pick up a free 'slapper' for your ankle. Very handy with bulky overtrews

I've recently noticed there are different lengths - my cyclelaw one is okay, but my UoE one is much longer and handier.

Glad I did not cycle to John Lewis but went home first and took the tram. And then got soaked between the tram and John Lewis as I hadn't taken an umbrella. Even if I had, my legs would still have been wet. There were brooks and rivulets gurgling along York Place. These downpours are like rain in the tropics except that it's cold. Whatever happened to drizzle?
