I'm seriously considering swapping from jeans to shorts. That'll guarantee snow.

Short sleeved commute, which is an incredibly rare event for me.

Surf being blown over the prom onto the grass.

Eeeeuuuurgh. I did not enjoy riding home at 17:20. Breezy and damp to an excessive degree.

My cycle into town didn't seem too bad a little after 6 pm. I did dismount to cross Slateford Aqueduct due to gusts, but otherwise enjoyed the tailwind. It was hairiest when I reached the roads.

I got stuck in the right hand lane on Mayfield Road on the way home, so ended up taking "amir's route" up Orchardhead Road. Some slog facefirst into that sleet.

Around 1730 on the Boroughmuir plaza was absolutely brutal going west.

@jdanielp - Yes, the ride eastwards along the canal was fast this evening. Luckily the towpath out west was devoid of foot- or bike-borne traffic, so I was able to take advantage of the tailwind.

I had an efficient ride home, at least as far as Morningside, but the rest of the way was pretty unpleasant. The icy rain that was shotblasted at me on the Seafield Moor Road was a bit painful.

I have now tightened the steering on the torpedo to remove the play which makes for entertaining handling in side winds and gusts, when the machine moves a foot or two to one side before you feel it through the controls.

Hopefully a bit better weather tomorrow. Need to install a storm strip one of these days.

Forecast seems to think it will be pretty windy again tomorrow, maybe a bit drier un til the evening but possibly a few high velocity cold showers...

I had the joy of driving a hire car (Zafira) down to Dumfries this evening for a last minute trip.

Sleet on the motorway and then approaching Dumfries it was as if someone was chucking buckets of water onto the windscreen. Quite impressive, but not pleasant driving conditions.

It was doing that all night last night as well. I'm surprised we're not more underwater than we are

We must have passed on the road. Vile, frankly.

+1. Headwind on my way home last night (heading South), and a headwind on my way into work this morning (heading North). *sigh*.

FRB closed again last night. I felt that the average wind strength wasn't as great as it had been on past occasions when the bridge was shut, but measured gusts (56mph was the biggest I saw on the web page) were enough to trigger closure.

Harumph. Tailwind home was definitely not as strong as the morning headwind!

Wind this morning added 20% on to journey time, although that may have been for the holdups at roadworks in Bruntsfield. Wind didnt stop an idiot try a closs pass at a pedestrian island just after Stenhouse Cross; looked down to my right and saw a bonnet inches from me rear wheel. Too puffed to catch him and remonstrate properly, although at least he backed off the manouevre. Cant see 20% coming off the other way.

Sudden heavy rain followed by a brief flurry of slushy looking snow and now some hail at Heriot-Watt. I am hoping that it will be sunny in time for me to have to head back to the office post-lunch. (It was.)

Gilmerton too. Wasn't settling at 7am, but definitely is now.

Had a couple of close calls slipping whilst walking the dogs.

A stud came through on my winter marathon yesterday, so had to change tyre yesterday evening, I opted for a non stud tyre.

Won't be here long I reckon, it's already turned to rain here in Fairmilehead. Met Office forecast is for rain the rest of the day.
