    Managed to escape the heavy rain by being on a later train and merely got a bit damp.

    Anyone else experienced the A90 Tsunami?

    cycling down beside the A90 (down the hill after the new path bit) and got about 1 second warning from a wave sent by a passing bus that went right over my head. Absolutely drenched and totally caught me off-guard. goggles were a bit fogged so I hadn't anticipated the soaking. I did have a little chuckle to myself though...and I'm assuming so did the bus passengers/cars behind the bus.

    Anyone else use Rainfall Radar?

    I really like it as - unlike even the usually reliable Met Office - it shows the intensity of rain and you can pretty much predict where the rain will hit based on the last hour or so movements.

    Might be a small thing, but I like to know if its a few dribbles or a downpour.

    Kudos to the cape to Cabot runners in the teeth of Gonzalo - from the eastern most point in North America to the tower where Marconi received the first transatlantic radio signals

    Ironically, the Scottish Government launches its annual “Ready for Winter” campaign today.

    Silly Hootsman. Confusing irony and coincidence.

    Watching the cyclists labouring up London Road over my porridge. The regular commuter who dresses like a teenage mutant ninja turtle is out.

    The family are still all on bikes today, but I'm a bit daft, as you well know...

    I've started using the Forth Road Bridge weather station as a guide:
    https://www.forthroadbridge.org/weather
    It's usually a bit behind time though. It provides a better indication in a westerly for the exposed bit of Gilmerton Road that I have to pass. With gusts up to 60 mph I decided to come in by bus - though it didn't seem so bad during that half hour :( Still I've probably done my quota of commuting miles for the year by now :)

    NEPN not too bad. One FRB user's shoes not in the changing room. No fewer racks in use than yesterday.

    I drove to work in my automobile. Didn't fancy the aqueduct and I'm carrying;

    * riser bars
    * riser stem
    * full tool roll
    * socket set
    * spare cables
    * boiler suit

    to turn my colleague's 'mountain' bike into the comfort bike she maybe should have bought to start her transport cycling career. OK, I could have put all that junk into my trailer and slogged it into the horricane, but I just can't be fagged today.

    The public should be aware of the potential for disruption to travel and possible damage to trees. This is a further update of the warning first issued on Saturday.

    You've never tried my porridge!

    Actually it was alright on the NEPN, pretty sheltered from gusts and just stayed on the inner ring.

    Corstorphine Road was pretty wind-tunnel like so I took to the back streets of Murrayfield and Corstorphine instead.

    A band of rain, heavy at times, will move southeastwards across central and southern Scotland and Northern Ireland during this morning, affecting rush-hour traffic in particular. In addition, strong and gusty winds are likely at times, particularly across southeast Scotland.
