Going to the pub after work so I think the SUNLIT Uplander can sleep in the nice warm underground car park.

First time in I don't know how long that the bridge was closed in both directions. Turns out that there are now two fun buses at rush hour, one waiting on each side to take you over. Wait time almost zero, the service just gets better and better.
Tons of debris from the fields at the Airport slip path - gravel at the bottom of the westbound down slip is treacherous.

@paddyirish do the bikes go on the bus nowadays or still on the back of a truck?
Posted 5 years ago # -
@amir- back of the truck still- "fun bus" just a term used between a few regulars - no idea where it came from...

Now we just need some snow to top everything off!

Haven't had horizontal sleet or hail for a while. Horizontal rain today though...

Saw a report on Twitter earlier of wind damage to Platform 1 at Haymarket. So now, lots of inbound services no longer stopping at Haymarket, including Fife, Inverness, Aberdeen, Glasgow services.

Mrs paddy just told me a bus was blown over in Cowdenbeath

Cycle back into town was a breeze - a bit wet and I dismounted for the long Slateford Aqueduct but didn't need to.

Twitter report of overhead power line damage at Edinburgh Park station meaning disruption to all services using it: Bathgate and some Falkirk line services to/from Haymarket - passengers advised to get the bus as Scotrail tickets accepted...

Tree falls on top of cars in Edinburgh's Holyrood Park as 60mph winds batter city
A tree collapsed and smashed through a wall before landing on top of cars in Holyrood Park during today's high winds.
That looks like an adjacent street rather than the park itself. Queen's Park Avenue?

I thought that was a bath in the foreground

Problems on the Airdrie - Bathgate line due to flooding at Blairhill. Trains are running, just "subject to delays and cancellations" as they say.

One big tree down and roped-off beside MMW. A few big old soggy branches at the path edges. A big isolated pile of soggy leaves on Leamington Walk which I wheel rushed to the edge.

Passed this this afternoon - the tree is in the park, the car was on Queen's Park Avenue: https://goo.gl/maps/Jzizm5kdKACYkhRdA

Icy pavements in Gilmerton
Posted 5 years ago # -
Icy roads too, take care.

@Frenchy
Nice one, cheers.

Icy paths around East Craigs this morning. Take care if out this way.

Icy on the path running alongside the A90, especially the ramp up/down from the new bridge.

A70 west of Balerno was lethal. I don't think it got any gritting. Quite a lot of slush in places, ice and frost otherwise. Puddles not frozen though. Kept losing traction in my rear wheel. A70 seemed a bit better from "Welcome to West Lothian" sign.
Walked the bike after the RAF turnoff to Kirknewton on the side of the road as the pavement was covered in ice. One car in verges. Fine again on the downhill to Kirknewton which I was really relived with.Posted 5 years ago # -
I took the MTB this morning which seemed an overreaction until a frosty/icy stretch at Wester Hailes where the towpath is right next to the road (incidentally, I hear that this will be closed from 10-2 pm tomorrow for the fitting of a bicycle counter), and then a more consistent frosty/icy stretch from WHEC until the Calder Road Bridge. Boroughmuir Plaza was heavily gritted, but nowhere else.

was slippy outside my house on the monoblock and then the pavement. Roads ok but slippy on the lateral moraine

I followed a couple of people who were on a hybrid and a racing bike through the frosty/icy stretchs - they seemed to be completely oblivious to the quite slippy conditions.
