Bit windy but otherwise quietest commute of the year. Towpath deserted.

Roads notably quiet too. Momentarily wondered if it might actually be Sunday when I and the dogs were able to cross Drum Street without any waiting this morning.

Very quiet. I cross the Western Approach Road at Canning Street to get into the car park. The traffic there could normally illustrate an active travel poster about congestion. Astonishingly quiet today.

If you really want to enjoy a quiet city, go for a cycle on Christmas Day.

Wow, did not need gloves on the morning wLK TO LISTONSHIELS. @SHEEPTOUCHER’s suggestion the path had been re-done seems to have been either a. A FIGMENT OR B. HIGHER UP

    Met three other people only

As days are drawing out this afternoon’s walk was a little cooler but some bikes Isla and otherwise out on the WoL path for the first time

Pretty tough and tricky cycling out in the countryside just now. I did a Carrington round and it sure blew the cobwebs away (and nearly the front wheel)

The wind was blowing from an unusual angle on the FRB this morning. It was making a roaring noise as if there was a large truck chasing me along the path.

Looking like a blowy and generally dire week ahead weather-wise. Stay safe folks

Was certainly very windy on our group ride to South Lanarkshire today. Bit gubbed now.

Can I get a note from CCE saying I don't have to go to the office this week because weather?

    To whom it may concern,

The recent weather and environmental anomalies across the world that are indicative of climate change manifest large require consistent and committed human behaviour modifications. unhurt has previously shown a careful and responsible response to that call for behavioural change.

In order for unhurt to maintain that level of progress without incurring additional risk, I recommend that those actions are performed, insofar as may be reasonable in a country known for its moderate yet episodic weather, at such times as the gusting wind speed is above 15mph and the level of precipitation is greater than 2mm per hour.

These conditions when carefully observed shall not require unhurt to travel unnecessarily to a substantive place of work. I therefore recommend a suitable alternative be found, such as a café, that is also within a walking distance from home no greater than one mile or 20 minutes, whichever is the lesser.

    Yours faithfully,

    Dr Carol de Tontaro

I think I should be allowed to work from home any time there is a weather warning. My manager, who commutes in a Range Rover Evoque, doesn't agree :-(

Evoque is a very wide and very long car and yet only two good seats (the front ones).

Don’t suppose they agree that they are part of the problem...

VERY blowy in Stow this morning. Luckily I was made a homeworker by my company a few months ago so I only need to fret about the strength of the augur screws holding down the kids' trampoline in the garden - no longer worrying about being blown into the path of a juggernaut on the A7.

It's awful dark for 09:25. And wet. And about to get v windy.

But my buses are all diverted because of the gas works and I'm not sure I can be bothered going looking for them...

I wish to register a formal complaint with the Chief Cyclist. All aspects of that journey were Horrible.

Hmmm. It is quite windy, but I would've thought there is a bit of an over-reaction taking place, unless the worst is yet to come...

Eventually headed workwards* at half ten, and it was mostly okay except a couple of bits where I was blown nearly to a halt.

    Very mild, too.

*I love flex time SO MUCH. Even if it does mean being in the office till 20:00 quite a lot.

Two high-sided vehicles have overturned on the #A1 in SE #Scotland despite @policescotland advice not to use this stretch.

Please follow police/authorities directions and stay safe - the road is closed to high-sided vehicles for good reason
