Will poke my snout out the window at 18h00 but considering the bus.
Rain, random gusts and The Darkness.
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

Mistimed taking the dog for a walk. Badly mistimed it. We’re both now drying off and have agreed that no further walks are required today.
Going to leave in ten, so do not want to face this.
I will tell you this: contactless bus fares make bailing out a lot less hassle.
@stiltskin "...but I would've thought there is a bit of an over-reaction taking place, unless the worst is yet to come... "
I spent most of the time cycling sideways and backwards around 1pm.
Contemplating not taking the long route home tonight...
big shout out to all the motons pushing 40mph in a 20 zone on this dark gusty day
the weather must be so hard for you, poor lambs, best just put the foot down eh

Our cycle store is very much less secure than it used to be so I can't really leave my bike overnight, need to start planning better.
Currently waiting on the fun bus to take me over the bridge. Hopefully lives up to expectations
I managed to get to the station in the dry tonight. I unfortunately then had to cross to the other platform during which time the heavens opened. It must have taken me 5 second to run for cover by which time my trousers were thoroughly drenched.
Wasn’t too bad - soaked but ain’t cold. Had worse wind, some of the a70 sheltered and drivers not so bad. Also a man mountain cycled by me and i caught him at the Gillespie x roads. He was way out in the middle of the junction for some reason. Anyway tucked in nicely behind him until the nether currie turn. Which was nice
Can confirm that it was indeed fun
the wind must have just shifted direction. sounds like hail against my kitchen windows.
I had problems walking, let alone cycling.
I was starting to think that I had overdressed in my full waterproofs for the cycle home at around 7:30 pm as I approached the Slateford Aqueduct, which I dismounted to cross just in case. About half way across, I was abruptly overtaken by some extreme weather which made me very glad to be wearing my full waterproofs and to have dismounted prior to crossing. I barely had to pedal until Harrison Park where I diverted onto the road to head to Morningside. This short section of the cycle was far scarier than the aqueduct as drivers repeatedly overtook me without any regard for my safety.
Wind abatement this morning
Temp dipping tonight and sleet Ramorra.
Crossed town in the automobile at 19h30 to get madame IWRATS. Saw a guy ploughing uphill through rain so hard you could see the blocks of it. On the way back a guy in black with a photon cannon up front but no rear light at all. Only the brave and mad out last night.
"photon cannon" love it! I was hit bit 2 of those on the path last night. Worst was a jogger with the equivalent of a star 3 times the mass of our sun stuck to his head.
lot of xmas presents out there
Braved the wind and rain on the way home last night, though I considered dismounting and walking home more than once.
Got caught in the sudden ridiculous downpour at Tollcross, which was somewhat bracing.
Well I came in today, with the cold wind behind me. At lunchtime I found the wind, though not the Hurricane Anti-Cyclist of yesterday, was still a cauld blast at yir heid.
Quite wet.
Not as apocalyptic as my colleague would have me believe, though.
Got biblically wet this morning, though mostly from water coming up rather than down.
After a late start, the winter service on my on my regular commuter (which has mudguards) is still ongoing so I've been on the tractor (which has 3" tyres, no mudguards) this week.
cc: Confessions of a Cycle Commuter,
Today's most unsatisfactory and wholly rubbish bicycle maintenance
My boots filled with water and I am curious as to the mechanism of aqueous ingress.
Also put on hillwalking jacket and had to turn back to retrieve lights from hiviz jacket and was three minutes late for a meeting but nobody seemed to care.
Meadows and canal towpath very damp this morning. Tomorrow could be interesting if it freezes overnight although it looks like the temperature might just stay above zero.
Very icy on untreated paths and roads over in Fife this morning
Looks like it stayed just above freezing overnight & there was no new rain. Not expecting any ice in Edinburgh this morning on my commute but your milage may vary locally.
Some frozen puddles in Gilmerton, but I expect that roads are all absolutely fine.
Any news from the canal towpath/out west?
The towpath had some slushy puddles but was generally fine.
