Dusting of snow and a heavy frost in Fairmilehead. Side roads definitely slippy.

Sounds like i made a good call taking A71 all the way to work. Lovely sunrise. In Livi snow on grass and on verges but roads generally fine.

Slateford Rd, Calder Rd were fine but I kept away from the cycling lane on Chesser Ave.

The towpath was far frostier this morning than yesterday but there wasn't much difference in the amount of ice (at least after 9 am today compared to half eight yesterday). Different parts of the canal were iced over today compared to yesterday. It was most definitely rather windier today.

That Roslin was a skating rink this morning. Every single road within the village was dangerous to two wheelers and a bit tricky for four. I'm surprised there hadn't been any RTCs. I walked my bike all the way to the main roads where the buses roam.

Jorge is the spanish meteorological office's name. presumably they had F and G, but they didn't then range up to us.

Last I heard they were refusing to name a storm Ellen. I guess they finally did.

The name is from the Spanish Met people that claimed the storm first. The next storm that our lot grab first will be called Ellen.

Bloody Europeans, getting first dibs on storm names. After Brexit we can name our own storms.

The Named Storms... I remember when they were called "that big one in May one year which knocked down trees on Bruntsfield Links".

Big Bob the janny at the high school was telling me he had put his cannondale in one of the wheel benders at the scotmid store and the wind blew it over buckling his wheel. He was not aware of this name for said racks

I like how the last one was Haw-hey, or Hee-haw as we called it.

Icy on the bus route outside our house. Mrs ACS just saw a motorcyclist come off. Several cars spun too.

Patches of ice in Edinburgh and Livingston main/main-ish roads. Ice all the way along A71 beyond the white solid line and patches in the driving parts as well. Roundabouts icy.

Black ice at top of Murrayfield Road, as evidenced by a bus that has crashed into the railings. Go careful out there.

Cammo Road is entirely black ice from the airport to the A90. Had to push at points as I thought I didn't need my studded tyre bike this morning :(

The path from Meggetgate up to the canal was an ice rink *again* this morning. This is the suggested route to to join N75 from Slateford Road if you want to avoid the the steps at the top of Allan Park Road so you would expect it to get some treatment. The least that could be done is to provide some grit bins so that cyclists/pedestrians could treat it themselves.

Few patches of frost/black ice on the way in although this wasn't why I was glad I was on the MTB this morning: They're currently resurfacing Edinburgh Rd between Musselburgh and Eastfield so the surface is not exactly fantastic for skinny tyres

Ice all the way along A71 beyond the white solid line

Do many people cycle in that area? The solid white line marks the edge of the carriageway and you'd be well within your rights, at least, to not ride beyond it.

on a summers day cycling on that white line from say kirknewton turn to lizzie brice might provide some succour. An actual bike lane would not be too much to ask on that stretch

@Arellcat I generally stay close (on either side) to the solid white line on A71 just to make it easier for the cars to overtake. But today I was well within the carriage way.

The towpath was quite sketchy in places at around half eight this morning. I felt the 3 inch tyres of my MTB sliding a few times especially when braking to let people exit from the longer of the bridges at Harrison Park. Surfaces were grippy by half eleven. Unfortunately no sign of any otters today.
