Was howling tonight, i sheltered behind chap going to currie, had young lad behind me. When young lad made his break Currie guy followed. Alas for him his chain slipped so i was able to catch up again and indeed shelter again. For which I expressed gratitude

Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths

I am starting to feel like a sinner. Relieved to find a fleece in my rucksack just now.

It's... snowing?!

Quite heavy now at Balerno

Patchy snow at the 73m contour.

Heavy in west then petered out? Might head east then to north berwick?

There's about an inch of snow on the roof of our summer house here in Fairmilehead (180m), and the garden thermometer is showing 3.6°. Lawn is white. Residential streets slushy, pavements snowy. Quite breezy. North aspects of the Pentlands nicely covered again this morning, having thawed down to just a few small, isolated snow patches yesterday afternoon.

It's difficult to spot the ice on roads in the morning (6.30am) light with the street lights off! You can't easily see the twinkles.
Slush on A71 but mostly fine along vehicle tracks. All side roads covered in snow or slush (depending on the traffic use). Nice drivers who were trying to give me plenty of room when overtaking had to go cross the middle of the road which meant I got treated to a brown slush shower many, many times this morning.
Woods along the way looking magical heavy covered in snow.

Also on the A703. I left a bit later to give drivists time to clear more of the slush ahead of me. But I was still slushed spectacularly once this morning, which caused me to swear equally spectacularly.
I was also gritted, when I was stopped at a red light and was adjusting my fork-mounted headlight.
Such fun.

Hello wetness my old friend.
Posted 4 years ago # -
was spectacularly sunny in N Berwick. Just missed the 11.28 train, that always happens. Had to go to steampunk. many beards. Took wee half day to achiever this.
Tomorrow could be tempted to do similar

Tomorrow to be a historic day free of wind and rain.

Had to go to steampunk. Many beards.
Ah.

@iwrats, the tailwind made us do it. Had North Berwick not had some roadworks we would have maybe caught the train a whole hour earlier than scheduled
Nice new tarmac at fisher Row and in NB

Paid for it on home leg tonight, rain and wind and weather, hell bent for leather

@arellcat I seem to have a talent for getting gently gritted. Always in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I know that with all the cherry blossom and sunshine around you forgot about the winter by now but the roads in Ratho were gritted yet sparkly this morning.

I'm so over this winter.

Hail in south Edinburgh now.

Then it turned briefly to snow, and now the sun's out again and a blackbird is singing in my garden. But then, I thought Scotland was renowned for its ability to deliver four seasons in one day.
Yesterday afternoon/evening was largely p*sh though.

I had a WFH lunchtime walk through the woods and the brickworks and a quick shop for emergency supplies*, in lieu of my WFO 20 mile round trip commute. It started hailing gently as soon as I was out of the door, of course, but I got home in sunshine just before the next band of rain arrived.
Yesterday I was on the motorbike and the spray† on the A720 needed maximum concentration.
