Suited booted and took the weans out to jump in puddles after the deluge this morning. Despite the builders trenches showing signs of damp puddles were very hard to find. Even the puddles which survived until a week ago were barely noticable.

Timed our trip to deliver cake and gin to one of my wards (she does not know she is my ward and likely considers me to be hers) perfectly so that we were caught in the hail.

Luckily I had dressed for a conversation carried out from the driveway of her house. It was refreshing.

Gosh, I'm so glad I didn't do my weekly shopping run at lunchtime today when it was all sunshiney and warm! I would have missed all the rain and hail and thunder and cold.

No rubbish drivists but on the Loanhead to Roslin path three highly rubbish pedestrians at whom I bellowed to stress the requirement of physical distancing. They were ambling along, happy as Larry*, taking up the full width† of the path.

    * presuming Larry is not a carrier
† which isn't that much; I ought to measure it sometime

It's glorious so I will: feed the sourdough starter for a split'n'share and build myself a new rear wheel.

Pelting rain could be perceived as a susurration with the windows closed and the sleeper weel happit up in the bed claes.

    Kelly Syke Gate

@gembo Just the other week I learned from the internets the meaning of 'syke'. You have so many words for water formations. Impressive.

Lots and lots of frost this morning. I was wearing full winter gear. No regrets.

Left at 5.10am to see the sunrise and went via Balerno. At Balerno my bike decided it wanted to go for a little adventure and took me along Harperrig and through Harburn. All lovely but I need to find a way how to gain more control over my bike's wild ideas.

Leaving the house at 05h10 was the wildest thing in there. Did you ring @gembo's doorbell as you passed?

“I need to find a way how to gain more control over my bike's wild ideas“

    Is it a problem?

Did you arrive at work late and tired?

Or was it trying to find the blackest ice??
