Here's Iona Street earlier. Looks like roofing felt came off the flat part, rather than the entire roof.

Saw a roofer's van parked opposite ours earlier, but did a quick inspection via skylights and no visible issues so far. Maybe a coinkidinky.

Presume they'll be lashing a tarpaulin on or something to make it watertight until proper repairs can be done?

Seems to me that recent weather is increasingly ‘localised’ with more ‘micro effects’ than was previously normal.

This seems to be both the amount/levels of gusting and dumps of rain.

Warning that this is not “science fiction”, Sir James Bevan said on Tuesday that in recent years several of the “reasonable worst case scenarios” had happened in the UK, with more extreme weather and flooding. And he urged politicians to take action to reduce emissions and adapt to the “inevitable” impacts of the climate emergency.

Looks becalmed out there. I mean I can take you to where the wind will be blowing on The Whang as it almost always is but mostly looks like a great day to get out there

Pavements of Colinton and Juniper Green to Balerno gritted this morning. No ice on roads or pavements though since it has been dry.

    Beebly forecast changed somewhat.

Windy tonight, 40mph+ gusts. Yes, I can hear that.

Windy tomorrow night and all day Thursday, 40mph+. However no thunderstorms now, but hailstorms instead!

    Mechty (2)!

Sunshine and of course wind shine on the Whang this morning. No moon shine

I did not have my boon companion with me this a.m. (he was there last night)

    Did spot His Mattness

Also two Lapwing trying to work their Walkie talkies. I find the Lapwing call like trying to find a channel on your Walkie talkie.

Beebly weather forecast has been downgraded from high winds to merely a fresh breeze. Yes I could have told them that by listening in.

Sun is out. If I didn't have to work this afternoon it would be splendid weather to go for a bike ride.

Hm, must be hyper localised forecasting as Beebly denies strong winds for these parts. However looking at the radar map points further south and west may be getting hail storms later?

    @gembo: Emergency utility repairs, apparently:

Closed to westbound traffic between Craiglockhart Avenue and Inglis Green Road for emergency utility repairs.

Also gas leak repairs at the Slateford Road/Chesser Avenue Junction.

Expect increased levels of frustration, annoyance, aggression and selfish behaviour as a result. Fortunately I have no need to pass that way today.

Traffic displaced from Craiglockhart Avenue was queued practically the whole length of Colinton Road SW from the Firrhill roundabout when we passed by the other way after our state-sanctioned constitutional in Balerno. The folks in Colinton village will be loving that.

Only got caught in one rain squall during our walk , but it was quite heavy and with a mean wind behind it. Didn't last very long, though.
