Hail or rain? Aah, white spots on the dark coloured washing flapping on the line. Hail.

Went out for a walk in the sun. Quickly turned to miserable rain and hail before suddenly becoming sunny again as I returned to my flat.

    I was bitter.

Going by the above comments, I chose my time to go out well and felt some sunshine.

I had sunshine in the morning but also driving rain, glorious now.

    Swallows must be days away

Was prepared for a drenching as there had been a very heavy shower just before heading out. However the only water was in puddles on the streets. Chilly breeze but otherwise quite nice and fresh out. Local shop mysteriously deserted on way back, usually very busy at this time. Must be the weather putting folk off. Except one bloke ahead of me paying at till not wearing a mask - grrrr!

I found the wind very terrible in the Bathgate alps. We went up to visitor centre and it was terribly busy. So we pushed on to top of Cairnpapple and back via the long straight descent of ravencraig hill and into Dechy. I see Bangour Village Hospital is completely flattened. Well one chimney left.

    The return was mighty fine.

Got snowed on in the Pentlands on Saturday... bad timing on my part...
Rain in Livingston yesterday, then warm and sunny when I got back to Edinburgh.

Where are Crowded House when you need them?

Wind, bright sunshine, snow flurries, summer at back of house in sun, deep winter at front in cauldstane blast, autumn and spring in the hall.

Persistent snow now of a light is hard nature

Perfect for my cycle this afternoon

Nothing better than reclining down Johnston Terrace with light snow in face. Shop is very cold though. Waiting on DSV pick up. (No National at local shop again - odd that other papers get through ;-)

You probably have to ask for it (from under the counter)...

@jss - I can empathise- often find it hard to find a copy of the Daily Telegraph in Newtongrange

Ha, ha, ha - I'll get Viewforth Stores to send up their extra foot high piles! Can understand that they have tons of Guardians as that is dominant media source for many.
Daily Telegraph type views are available in most other papers though and all broadcast channels here.
You'll be looking forward to GB TV then? :-)

Large patches of ice on the southbound side of the road just at the bends near the SSPCA place at Balerno.

I was not expecting that! Managed to stay upright, but would have been in quite the sticky spot if someone had driven round the bend at the same time.

    @Frenchy- Sounds sketchy...

That section has had water running over it on a permanent basis for long time, not a surprise it ices up.

I've seen a lot of salt everywhere even though most paths are perfectly dry and it's not needed. Do they spread it when the temperature drops below zero, regardless of the conditions?

We had ice on mud road out of auchengray. This a.m. no mud tho. The mud is on the auchengray station road. The next one west.

The Sspca water is a stream running off the hill. Similar stream just west of Balerno at the strange abandoned landscape site where t(e gate the6 made is about to fall on the car they have abandoned.

Snowing again. Tiny wee grains of graupel/hail this time, not yesterday's big soft flakes.

Now getting fluffier flakes. Still small, like wee dandelion clock parachutes.
