"Severe weather warning"

While I've not taken the winterbike down off its hook, I've at least re-arranged all the junk around it so I can get the thing out should it be required after an out-the-window check of the weather tomorrow morning. Pump in some air to the now completely flat tyres and we should be laughing... Although it's been hanging on a wall for 10 months, that could be famous last words!

Was odd to see the ice last night. Gritters had not been out but then the expectation of the wee tractors appearing when needed is very recent.

No sign of snow/ice in town. Just very very wet.

@Stickman that's what I was hoping for. If that continues to be the case as I cycle out of town then I'll be fine ;)

Warmer than expected, but - as Stickman notes - very wet.

I came the canal today for a change, and the glass mentioned on another thread has either been cleared, or washed away !

@Nelly glass is tricky to spot in the wet. I'd be amazed if it is all gone but that would be great!

Walk-Tram-Walk this morning to avoid the anticipated ice. Gather I shouldn't have bothered. Plus had to stand in the rain due to missing tram as a result of cockwombles who can't work a ticket machine.

Just cold enough so that I could wear my most breathable coat for the school trot to stay slightly drier than the rain would have made me, but it was removed for the cycle in.

My cold-sensitive left-hand deskmate has just put her lower legs inside her coat, like a CosyToes.

"...although it's been hanging on a wall for 10 months..."

My sparebike's chain and rear mech were rusted solid by April after being shedded in March, eventually requiring replacement (though both had been due replacement anyway).

It was very wet, with a few axle-deep puddles that required feet to be lifted off the pedals, but otherwise it was mercifully non-windy.

Still forecast to be 12° for next couple of days.

(Think that counts as severe for this time of year!)

Temperature has just doubled in last couple of hours from ~6C - ~12C. No need for all those layers on the way home!

I cycled up from blackball to captain's road tonight, it was balmy. Returning round the old ring road was not good. Nor was going to work in the floods (had hand slipping from drops and then both feet going down kingsknowe, scary)nor cycling from centre to black hall but still here and kicking

The rain is very cold as well. Snow mixed in at higher levels. Not nice at all.

Looks bad. I went out this morning before the rain. Lots of other people seemed to have had the same idea.

Lots of standing water and some very deep pools in places. Probably a lot of blocked drains. On my route bad spots were:

    east end of Roseburn Park
    Riversdale Crescent
    Junction of Saughton Crescent/Saughtonhall Road
The entrance to the Pinkhill path at the golf course

Crivens. Marionville Road and Drive have megapuddles. Very probably under the bridge at Abbeyhill, too.

Very VERY cold rain. My poor wet feet! Sheets of water running down the Mound too. Snow lying in Balerno according to the brother.

Roslin's got an inch or so of the winter wonderland to it.

There was an accident somewhere south of Gowkley Moss roundabout that had traffic backed up to the Sainsbury at Straiton, and from the lack of oncoming vehicles must have taken out both lanes. Chap in the Scotmid heard it was an overturned lorry, which fits.

Worst bit was the epic puddle by Burdiehouse, which turned out to be deep enough to submerge my feet entirely.

I made that involuntary sound that vaguely resembles a ghost.
