Shorts and Tshirt for me this morning and still got sweaty.

CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

Came in on the big bike. This may have been a mistake. It was quite breezy (as in "oh look I am now in the middle of the lane which I wasn't a moment ago" breezy).
I think I will go home on the train.
Yeah I misunderestimated the wind this morning too. Braced my self against the wind then at one it let up, nearly went over sideways...
xcweather is good for wind forecast and recent wind history
Grim ride this morning.
Stay in bed if you can.
I called it "character building" rather than grim, however I'm not sure that daughter believed me...
Robert
Grim enough walk to the tram!
Overshoes with leaky seams.
That would have been OK if I'd been sensible and worn a waterproof coat and waterproof trousers.
As it is I am a trifle damp. Never mind, I will dry off. At least I have a spare pair of shoes under my desk.
(Cycled the big bike home last night in the end - the wind had dropped compared with the morning. Just on the Brompton today.)
Brought to a halt by the wind on the downhill part of the bridge today, you get some degree of shelter going up to the crest, but once that went it was brutal. Only met one other cyclist between Dalgety Bay and South Gyle, a joint record low...
Not a day to have not installed bar tape yet, leaving me gripping tightly on the slippy bare metal going uphill into the wind with no gears.
I'll keep my sodden shoes on to warm them up with my feet, then remove them and put my dry socks on. My SealSkinz all-weather gloves will have some of that industrial kitchen roll stuff stuffed up them until I can get some newspaper from my locker downstairs.
Well I'm feeling a little hypocritical after what I said on the previous page about not being put off by the gust speeds on BBC Weather, but their numbers already had me wondering about taking a bus - the site that bax posted then reinforced my decision with its even higher numbers.
- Water coming into the house in an unidentifiable way - check
- Recently waxed jacket leaking water - check
- Sitting in damp clothing in the office - check
Still, it is warm in here.
Here's another gauge to keep an eye on; http://apps.sepa.org.uk/waterlevels/default.aspx?sd=t&lc=14868 although there's a lag in the data publication from it.

Properly mental out there. Left the house with the 2 boy's fully waterproofed up. As we went out, the wind flipped on of our wheelie bin lids open knocking him on the head, he did have his helmet and seemed to be completely unscathed.
Having dropped the childen at Nursery and Childminder I was relieved to head home with the wind behind me. I opted to avoid the Canal Aquaduct and take the road and was flying home and really enjoying the wind on my back down slateford road. I saw a van waiting to pull out of Georgie Park Road his nose blocking most of the bus lane I was occupying so moved out into the main lane. But he decided to pull out as I passed, he didn't quite make contact, but there was only an inch to spare. My first near miss for ages.
Even the tram was leaking this morning...

River level at Murrayfield jumped 20cm between 6AM and 9AM (or a 33% increase on the 6AM level). It would have to get all the way up to ~1.7m (doubling the 9AM level) to move out of the normal range though.

A male passenger has been injured after a chimney that was blown off an Edinburgh tenement roof in high winds smashed through a bus window. The number 31 Lothian Bus was hit on Nicolson Street at about 09:44 as it was heading out of the city.
Yup, not a pleasant ride in this morning.

They said they were treating a man in his forties for injuries which are not believed to be serious.

blown in to work today without pedalling, brakes applied at every red light to stop me moving forwards, many bins blown over with lids flapping. One piece of luck at Juni Green where I upped the pavement (a drive really as no raised kerb) to get around a lorry right at the point where I then saw a small lake or large puddle on the road, that would have been wet.
According to the BBC it is going to be a windy journey back home too - take care folks
Just heard through grapevine that bridge is shut to bikes - will see if there is a flat-bed to take us across this evening
Hardy souls, some of you. On my bus and walk journey, as I walked from Morrison Crescent to Fountainbridge (a wind catching route) 2 people offered to help me as I grabbed on to something in the violent gusts.
I cycled through the chaos on the Bridges and Chambers Street as a result of the road closure (chdot's link to Evening Stews refers)
Lots of fed up looking people in single occupancy cars, as well as trapped buses, vans, trucks, etc. Looked like it woudl take 20-30 minutes to get through, other than by bike that is.
It's even worse out West apparently: M8 blocked by portacabins blown off a lorry; M9 southbound flooded; railways in Dumfries and Ayrshire flooded.
Thank goodness I only have to make very local journeys on foot today...
"Be careful out there". (Hill Street Blues)
It was fairly blowy on way home tonight. Did get a wee tow from friendly man from Currie which was nice
I felt okay on the bike both ways, but walking across George square around 11, there was a gust that brought everyone to a standstill - we just all leaned into the wind and stopped moving, then it eased off and everyone went forward again. Pretty intense. Raincape worked great for walking around. Wore lycra for the actual cycling.
