Stayed dry until the end of Deep Time which was good as would not have liked that crowd to turn nasty.

Mogwai and light show with dinosaurs great. Not suitable for kids really as heaving crowd. A few on top of the electricity boxes were well placed.

One lady brought a seat which was hilarious. Some festival employees tried to use their passes to skip forward but met with barrage of bodies and skepticism. First aiders were able to part the crowd and one schemie radge just went for it to much middle class KIndly stop pushing remarks.

Should do it is a classic example of generalising from a salient exemplar.

Thus the weather is always good once the school's go back after our holidays ( except of course there are times when the weather has been good in hols and rubbish when schools go back or rubbish rubbish and very occasionally good and then a good Indian summer)

See also isn't it funny how people look like their dogs?

I may be missing something but this seemed quite good advice for all road users

That is good, sensible advice and avoids shifting all the burden of care onto cyclists. I suspect it may have been written by someone who cycles regularly.

@chdot I just noticed that! Freezing temperatures tonight but probably no precipitation so hopefully just frost on Tuesday morning, but then a whole lot of rain and/or snow on Tuesday evening with close to freezing temperatures overnight might make Wednesday morning interesting...

Someone in the bike park at work has had them on for at least a week now, which seemed a bit OTT until today.

I still need to check that my new fat ones will fit under my mudguards, or I'll have to use my old ones with missing studs and big gaps.

recommendations for winter tyres ? (do i even really need them ?)

my commute is 40% innocent to Porty - so I'm guessing that'll be worst bit / sans gritting.

Have never commuted this far north - all new to me.

After much campaigning by Spokes (and people on here) most of the tarmaced off-road network gets gritted - but not necessarily before the first frost.

They certainly often grit the section west of Duddingston. Other bits less often.

@iainmcr we may be 'north' but coast plays moderating role. Much more snow and ice in inland bits of northern England . Before the path gritting, I'd have said spiked tyres essential. Still useful if you ride on canal or other non-gritted paths. Now less essential, although there are gaps in the network. And a bad winter like 2010 meant we needed spikes on the roads!

A couple of teeny speckles of snow landed on my face going along Dalry Road just now.

Heriot-Watt Campus paths are well gritted this morning as is usually the case when there is even the hint of a risk of snow or ice. I'm kind of hoping that it doesn't appear.

No need to worry everyone. My marathon winters went on this morning, so it's sure to just be rain from now on....

My, my if was pretty cold today! I dug out my very warm longs, and wore 6 layers on top along with buff, warm hat gloves and overshoes.

A little warm climbing but in general cold.....

I'm hoping it does not snow before I get home!

Is it just me, or was it colder yesterday (especially afternoon/evening) ?

Pretty mild today in Edinburgh, no wind, didn't need a hat or gloves.

    Forecast over promised?
