I have been spending a very enjoyable, relaxing holiday in Suffolk - first near Orwell then in Dedham (actually in Essex just). It is an excellent place to cycle (if you can avoid the busier roads - the locals seem to love cars, especially big ones). It's hillier than you might expect but not too bad. There are lots of beautiful villages to see going along peaceful lanes. Old buildings seemed to have conserved in bulk here. There's lots of wildlife to see - we were staying right next to an estuary & Minsmere is fantastic.
Below are a couple of photos taken today:
The first reminded me of the Class Sketch from the Frost Report - it's a bit blurred as we were moving:
We were stunned to see a Kingfisher from Dedham Bridge (near to Flatford a la Constable). It hovered over the water, looking like a hummingbird, dived into the water, then went to rest on the back of one of the rowing boats. The photo is out of focus - it was a long way from us!
