it is all pretty well and good being sour about this spate of bike thieves, one word ----> insurance, I have 3 bikes total value of 6k locked up in Leith with Kryptonite and therefore fully insurance for £300 pound per year and that covers accidental damage, I sleep with ease at night :)

Yes. I'm insured. I reserve the right to be 'sour' however.

I'm sure it was mentioned here recently, but the Shed Anchor. Might be £50 well spent, and might be easier than the wall/floor equivalents.
I just used an Abus wall anchor on the shed, but it's pretty insecure if bolted to wood instead of a brick/concrete wall, and at £35 is nearly at the cost of the superior (looking) Shed Anchor.
NB tiger and bikes no longer in the wooden shed...

Walking round to meet my daughter in the High Street this evening I'm pretty sure the guy I saw at 5am passed me walking in the same direction. Either that or I'm getting paranoid.
Didn't say anything - I might be wrong of course but I also don't want knifed.

I'm off out for a run. Will be looping around the streets here a few times, and keeping eyes peeled for a BMW estate and hooded neds. This time, however, I'll be carrying on, going round the next corner then calling the police.

Maybe you should convert a helmet/bikecam to a shoulder cam and then start a "Cyclist, camera, action" tv series..? Or more seriously have film of said ned/s if you see him/them again.

I had a ground anchor years ago fitted to the brick wall of an under-stair cupboard, which prevented my bike from being liberated when the hasp and padlock of the cupboard were forced open, so I'm a fan of them.
Here's a pretty cost effective one at £18.82. I think with these cheaper ones they rely on the security chain blocking access to the bolts but I wouldn't rely on that - you should deliberately round off allen bolts so they can't be undone.
Ultimately, if a thief comes equpped to drill out bolts then it's a bit moot, but you have to do what you can...

"you should deliberately round off allen bolts so they can't be undone"
Or you can hammer in a ball bearing.

Here is the DIY Ground Anchor I described yesterday, as the scrotes would see it...

Just seen on watch Porty that the polis have caught 3 neds red handed breaking into a garage inthe area. Hope it's the same gang that did W.C's. May be a chance of recovering the stolen bikes.

Seems like a whole gang has been charged with several teen theives and a 41 year old 'faginesque' character too!

Whilst reading the above, I noticed this:
"Theft from a Fire Engine
Published 12:23About 9.30pm on 5th of November 2013 the Fire service were extinguishing a bonfire on the grass area adjoining Balmwell Avenue in Edinburgh.
At this time a male described as being white, 14-17 years old, 5’6 tall, stocky build and wearing a grey tracksuit stole a Yellow 3 foot pair of heavy duty bolt cutters from the fire engine.
This is a vital piece of fire equipment and the community officers at Howdenhall are appealing for further witnesses to the crime or information that would assist in the return of the cutters. "
So be extra careful with your belongings, especially bikes and where they are stored.

Back in my day neds would work hard and save up to buy boltcutters to steal bikes, not just steal them!
