State of paths/roads for winter 2013/14

I've made this for everything related to winter conditions in Edinburgh (or further afield).

Rode in along from Silverknowes along Blackhall path to Craigleith and then back up to the Red Bridge and the NEPN to 5 ways junction and in on the goldenacre path to Broughton.

I found most access paths/steps gritted by some machine (circular grit shapes on the main path) but not grit on the actual paths. The blackhall path was icy and not gritted as wasn't the NEPN (parallel to Ferry road), and Goldenacre path. Disappointing.

Initially I thought due to ice on the Blackhall path, it had been washed off by any rain overnight but masses of grit on the access ramps shoed this to be wrong.

I was on the Blackhall path before 4pm yesterday and it was very icy apart from at the Silverknowes and Craigleith exits. If that was gritted, then they didn't do a very good job.

As I reported elsewhere, leamington walk, MMW, SMW, NMW showed no evidence of gritting yesterday, they were okay. Only a few slippy patches. No real ice. But next time we might not be so lucky.
