Does anyone know why the Spaces for People road closures do not appear on OSM?

Could / should they be edited in?

Or are they too short-term / temporary?

It seems a bit mad if navigation apps are using OSM, then directing drivers down closed roads (that are likely to remain closed for 18 months)

Yes, should be, and I think most are.

They seem to have been done by adding a "motor_vehicle=no" tag. This means the map itself doesn't change, but if you use the navigation feature, it will redirect you down Comiston Road (for example).

Based on experience elsewhere I see no reason why the changes shouldn't be added as they'll generally be there for 6+ months. Examples in Ipswich have been added to OSM for example. Short term or temporary things, in the order of weeks generally not worth adding to OSM, unless really major and will be updated when it's removed.

From what I can see - Cammo Walk, Hope Lane/Stanley Street, Links Gardens, part of Sciennes Road, Silverknowes Road, West Bow are all marked as motor_vehicle=no

Warriston Road is also tagged as closed in OSM, but I think I read the closure was removed?

Navigation apps should be doing the following for cars: https://www.openstreetmap.org/directions?engine=fossgis_osrm_car&route=55.97221%2C-3.16251%3B55.96978%2C-3.15925#map=17/55.97106/-3.16374&layers=N

If there's somewhere else that should be closed then post it here or use the "add a note to the map" feature to alert OSM users.
