Cool, after my night out involving quiz, but need not be boozy in trend bucking hiring of mezzanine at Hemma instead of overpriced stodgy food and pricey vino

As with all previous PY threads I will now vigorously promise to be there, and will then most likely encounter some series of events that prevents it.

This time I'm betting that I'll get taken down by a virus or similar biological construct as I did this time last year.

I can actually make that one, Friday-ness being no problem in the face of school closure being the 19th.

Just to be crystally translucent -

This (mostly) monthly event, (usually) on the last Friday, (generally) at PY is open to all with an interest in city, cycling, Edinburgh.

Lurkers have to wear a badge saying "HELP, I can't decide what my username should be".

All others can use their CCE name, 'real' name or make up a new one for the day.

As it's that time of year, silly hats are optional.

It's also the time for the Secret Squirrel tradition of giving away unwanted cycle junk carefully chosen and badly wrapped presents.

    ...........................................

    Statutory reminder -

    For newcomers (ALL welcome) -

    AKA http://tinyurl.com/PY-Fri

"Normally from 7.30 to 8.30 for most folk."

Some people hang on past nine.

chdot - you should change the statutory reminder to explain that PY is Peter's Yard bakery/coffee shop on Middle Meadow Walk. Might not be clear to everyone.

Also, I should be able to make it to this one.

I've been boycotting PY on account of the prices. But I'm also on holiday this Friday...

"I've been boycotting PY on account of the prices."

Designed to keep out the people too poor to cycle...

You're certainly not paying for the service.

Was going to say I can afford it once a month, but realise I 'had' to meet someone there already this month.

  17. "You're certainly not paying for the service"

Aww, I think that's unduly harsh! Certainly always been perfectly pleasant with me...

I was about to say the service was "pleasant but inefficient", but then they're not aiming at the in-and-out-in-20-seconds-armed-with-a-venti-caramel-skinny-latte sort of customer really.

What we're really paying for is the right to monopolise the longest coffee table in Edinburgh.

I'm aiming to be there early (for me) and then pop into the office for some last minute work.

I'm struggling to come up with any decent secret santa's other than superfluous brackets. Anyone looking for any baskets?

Baskets always useful - as long as they don't interfere with the brakes etc!

    Baskets?

Must remember to a: set my alarm for much earlier, b: get up when it goes off, c: set up the coffee maker the previous evening and d: try to avoid projecting an air of wanting to get out of the house three-quarters of an hour earlier than normal in case a child detects it and decides to start stropping/vomiting/refusing to get dressed/etc.

I have a basic black basket that I am very happy to give to a good home, and a good quality, fairly new basket with a bracket that I might use if I kept, but if someone else would definitely use, I'd be happy to pass it on.

I'll try and be there depending on the weather (particularly the ice warning out). Not sure about secret santa - I really need to sort out the garage but pre-Christmas isn't the time.

I'll bring a selection of bits and pieces that will otherwise be off to the bike station.
