Thanks to the contractors constructing the new Sainsbury's on Marchmont Road, there is a new attractive water feature which has closed off Spottiswoode Road.

When I drill a hole I tend to see if there's a water pipe where I'm drilling, but I'm not a professional - I'm sure they know what they're doing, although currently the basement is completely flooded, which means local folk might have to continue shopping at one of the supermarkets located tens of metres away for the time being.

Ha! I'm pretty sure they're meant to survey for all this stuff before they go digging holes in it... I was planning on going for a swim at Warrender later on, hope it's not all gone down the plug hole.

Hehe, I remember that happening when I was a student - it produced quite an impressive fountain...

"I remember that happening when I was a student"

You mean you didn't do something you should have?

@kaputnik - I think the new pool is marginally closer for you, and significantly less chlorinated.

@fimm - apparently this was quite spectacular when it happened - I just missed it.

In related news nearby, the closure of Warrender Park Road (while they lay pipes for the rebuild of the school) has made it lovely and peaceful to cycle along. Notwithstanding having to become a pedestrian for 20 yards to get past, a small price to pay.

@chdot I don't understand. I mean, some people digging a hole in the ground went through a water pipe, the result of which was a rather impressive fountian, and this occurred while I was a student.

@SRD that link appears private to me.
