    When did the fringe become some massive commercial set up. Thank goodness this guy is protesting and has enlisted the Mitford descendent chap as advisor,

    Actually this year saw a really good show for a fiver and another with algo's doppleganger which was free (small donation at end).

    Years ago! Where have you been?

    I remember Arnold Brown's quip "Comedy is a serious business" back in 1990. Even then folk were complaining the Fringe was over commercialised. Different scale now of course, taking over any public space with "George" in it for a start...

    Oddly I was just mulling over suggesting a CCE ride out and East Lothian weekend beach camp in September.

    Presumably someone on here will have a clavichord with a trailer hitch?

    Yeah sorry crowriver, I was not being clear. My point was that pitching a tent and a piano at porty to protest about commercialism of fringe is thirty years out of date.

    And strangely I have seen some good cheap stuff this year like in the olden days
