I did this event, it is like a two day sportive with camping on the overnight if that is yr thing (take ear plugs). At ascot racecourse

Best if you do it with a pal who lives in London, not really worth going all the way down for without added catching up with pal type action.

I see they are starting at the Lee Valley Sports centre this year - the recommended start for London to Cambridge cycle. This is good place to start though their sign posting is pretty good so getting out of London was not that hard the year I did it, and east end start allows you to take bike on tube. Also end of second day still has scary streatham and central London then back up to lee valley.

Both days have some really nice quiet country lanes. Day 2 has more climbing including box hill and stopping off at herne hill velodrome.

It was all sold out but fifty more places released.

There are some dudes who take advantage of the gap between signs going up and the event actually starting to ride the route for free. This involves an early start.

185 miles in total nice roads, lots of pit stops. Seemed to involve James Cracknell the year I did it and some ex-military who did it on arm propelled bikes which was impressive.

They must share their mailing list with other London events as I had email from Amanda Cyclewhiff, which I assume is not a real name, telling me about big London cycling weekend this weekend too.
