Need to find out where the daily-occurrence motorcoach-on-omni-cycleway is mounting the kerb and get someone to install those special anti-bus kerbstones there.

Charlie Irons coach occupying a bus stop on Shandwick Place yesterday lunchtime:
This required actual, scheduled buses to disembark and embark their passengers without being able to pull in to do it, blocking the road to other traffic including trams. (In evidence, note the empty street beyond the pedestrian crossing.)
My understanding is that the exception case in "No stopping at any time except buses" applies only to scheduled bus services, not to random chartered coach operators who find it convenient to drop off/pick up their passengers at that precise location. (Whereas I believe that bus lanes can be used by chartered coach services.)

Pretty sure you're correct.
The council's Parking Enforcement Protocol section on bus stops says:
"Parking Attendants will issue an instant Penalty Charge Notice to any vehicle parked at a Bus Stop Clearway"
It then lists various exemptions, the main one being:
"the driver of a bus being used in the provision of a local service who causes the bus to stop within the clearway for so long as may be necessary:
a. to maintain the published timetable for the service (provided, in the case of a bus stop clearway, the bus is not stopped within the clearway for a period exceeding two minutes);
b. to enable passengers to board or alight from the bus; or
c. to enable the crew of the bus to be changed."(This is apparently so important that the whole thing is listed twice, word for word identical, as both Exemption 1 and Exemption 2. "The first rule of Bus Club is...")

Haven't been near Leith Street this week to enjoy the bike-lane coach-park but there are two coaches parked in Grindlay Street blocking most of the parking bays on the south side and half the road. At least their engines are off.

Unusually, there was only one car parked on the pavement of Whitehill Road at Fort Kinnaird this afternoon. The fact that it was specifically advertising their Motability scheme was exquisitely ironic, though.

I can only hope that they start with the group that park on Marchmont Road, same place, both sides, every evening. Mostly taxi drivers visiting the Kasbah Takeaway

I originally took this photo on 5th July at Melville Dr.
They were back again today in fully obstructing mode (I think at least once in addition prior to that too).
So they seem to be making a habit of fully obstructing the footway, when there is perfectly good and wide road to park on.

Yesterday evening, Leith Walk. There was a car abandoned in the cycle lane, next to a completely empty parking bay.

Coach parked in the bus stop outside the hotel on Haymarket Terrace, forcing buses to stop on the road to let off passengers. This is a daily occurrence during festival season.

@Frenchy I wonder what the response time is like. My guess is at least 24 hours, making it almost entirely useless. But maybe I'm just skeptical.

Why bother parking in the 8-10 metre long parking space, when you can dump your stupidly large carvan in the bus lane?
Because she "DINNAE WAHNT TAE PAERK THEEEEEEIIRRR!" apparently. Then she continued shouting stuff I can't here the whole time I'm looking back at her...

Also, I filled in that web form just now about taxis parked outside the Balmoral and cars parked on Leith Walk (two submissions). I bet nothing changes.
The e-mail receipt basically confirms that: "Thank you for submitting your form to our external party Parking Enforcement team, NSL. This message confirms receipt of your Report illegally parked vehicles online form. Your form will now be processed. Please note you won't receive a response."

(Rubbish driving too I suppose) Cycling up George IV Bridge this morning I observed a tailback all the way to Forrest Road, occasioned by a coach parked outside the National Library and a lorry whose driver had got out of Victoria Street but could not complete the turn because of the aforementioned coach. Can we please pedestrianize Victoria Street already?

I went home via George St yesterday without anything too bad happening but had forgotten about the tendency of things like Wiseman milk vans and Brakes lorries to block up narrow channels during street.nqr

Keep forgetting to post this...
Last Sunday, a van and trailer half on the pavement opposite the Tesco on Collinton Road. I wondered if it was there for road works, but no, when I got to the front of the van the driver and passenger were munching sandwiches. I went back to the rear of the vehicle, to get a good photo of the number plate and the obstruction, but before I got my camera out the vehicle was driven off. I don't think that was a co-incidence...

Driver asleep in the car, engine running.
AIUI that's an offence right there. Arguably two: being asleep while in charge of a motor vehicle and leaving the engine running while stationary.
SWMBO was watching a rather tacky Channel 5 programme yesterday evening called Britain's Parking Hell. For the short time that I was in the room I was shouting out practically every five seconds "that's an offence!" For example, one licensed taxi driver in I think Birmingham was shown driving on to the pavement via a gap in the railings at a pedestrian crossing in order to park his taxi on the pavement (in a double yellow line zone) to go and buy a sandwich.
It quickly became clear that Britain's parking "hell" was largely created by Britain's selfish and entitled drivers - but of course the programme steered well clear of saying that. The slant was very much on how difficult it is for poor innocent drivers to find somewhere where they can legally and without inconveniencing other road users abandon their motor vehicle in a public place, with a sub-text of "if only someone would provide more parking spaces - and maybe relax the rules a bit".

This could have been in any number of topics but lets stick it here.
I 've wondering why the traffic was so bad on Mayfield road to find the culprit was the Margiotta delivery truck parked over a pretty lazy combo of double yellows and cycle lane etc... (I'd have hung around to se wha the no24 bus was going to do when it got there but no time..)
Angry man in red micra who'd been held up blatantly stuck his motor into the asl so I nipped past him and waited for the lights to go.
Lights go green andI was just about to move off when suddenly theres a bike at right angles to me who must have done some interesting manoeuvres to get there. Hate to think what would have happened if i'd not been infront of angry man in red micra who had a heavy right foot too.Anyway, back to the parking which caused it all, worth a moan at Margiotta on one of their many social media channels or waste of time?
