Captain Obvious says 'I can see a pest I want eradicated' in that picture.

A three points and £150 fine if caught IIRC, parking on zig zags.

Taxi and three transit vans parked on no loading markings, and in the bike lane at Ratcliffe Terrace, despite there being free parking bays.

Transit van parked similarly on East Preston St (although this one had a ticket, at least).

Transit van parked wholly on the pavement of the Royal Mile, just next to the junction with New St.

The council’s finance and resources convener, Cllr Alasdair Rankin, accepted alternative proposals by Liberal Democrats for an investigation into whether parking at the quadrant is causing problems – not including environment impacts.

Rubbish everything. Last night on Leith Walk, multiple things wrong with the Leith Walk cycle lane, mostly from the driver of the van parked in it in the junction with Pilrig Street.

The lazy parking one always does my nut in - why can't some folk just park legally instead of inconveniencing folk with their illegal parking.

Where is the enforcement?! I suspect that this occurs because there is next to none.

There's never any rush-hour enforcement on Leith Walk. I've seen the occasional warden around 1pm, but never at peak times.

The double parking ban seems to allow for camera enforcement of double parkers (but, of course, not if they're loading...)

Would be good if the council took advantage of this on this stretch.

I went down and up Leith Walk just before 5 the other day, and did see a warden both times.

Saw a PHC driver pull a truly bizarre one this evening.

Cycling on Durar Drive just past Dochart Drive on my right and a PHC slows down as if he's about to park. Plenty of room for about 2 double decker buses so although I'm gaining on him no need to brake. Then he drives past the spaces and the reverse lights come on. OK he was going to park but must have changed his mind and then back again. No wait, he's going to pull into the car park - loads of room there. I've stopped at this point as I want to make sure I don't get knocked down by this idiot.

Then he decides that it's far better to park entirely over the payment presumably just in case about a dozen cars need to park and he better not inconvenience them (screw the pedestrians!)

Now I could not swear to this but I think there was a vehicle parked in every single block of double red lines northbound on Leith Walk.

And on the double yellows with double ticks.

    And on the Kirkgate pavement.

But there was a parking attendant on a scooter looking at the vehicles parked in the loading bays. He'll be busy, they'll be back.

Two cars parked on the grass at the east entrance to Roseburn Park today. They will have driven over the pavement marked with “Keep Clear”. No sign of the usual suspects of workers in the park so it was either locals or commuters.

Waverley Bridge is closed (for the Christmas shenanigans, I think, not sure), so the tour buses are congregating on George Street instead. But taxi drivers aren't happy that the buses are being parked in taxi ranks: https://twitter.com/branch_cab/status/1195689096326402048

They are quite right to be annoyed, but having watched yet another bus be delayed this morning by taxis parking in the bus stop outside the Balmoral, I have to admit that I am appreciating the irony.

Heh. I got blocked by that “branch_cab” account after pointing out that them posting photos taken while driving wasn’t a good look whilst they were complaining about the behaviour of PHC drivers.

Quite amusing watch them have a complete fit at buses being in a taxi rank when they’re in the Waverley bus stop day in day out!

Quality Polis parked on double yellows outside Papa John's on Dundee Street on Saturday night. As I walked by, an officer emerged from Papa John's with a takeaway pizza box which they put onto the back seat of their patrol car. They seemingly turned a blind eye to the delivery vehicles which were also parked on the double yellows.

Asked two passing police officers if the HGV on the pavement outside Leith Tesco was legally parked.

They said no, due to the double yellows but it was the council's business not theirs.

I understand that HGVs on the pavement is police-level illegal wherever it happens.

    Looks like it was illegal if this law applies in Scotland;

    http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1988/52/section/19

    Vehicle was abandoned.

Edinburgh Beer Factory-liveried car pulling onto the pavement opposite the Craiglockhart Tesco. Right on the piece of pavement I was planning on occupying 0.5 secs later.

    They can ram their beer.

    "Simple Logistics" say Miles Briggs.

In the same way as when your house is flooding, knocking down walls to allow more space for the water to flow is simple logistics, rather than attempt to stem the flow. My disdain for Mr Briggs continues to flourish unabated. I really hope he comes knocking at my door again soon asking for my vote.

A member of the public contacted police to complain that the Peugeot was blocking an entranceway to an Edinburgh street.

More than a little schadenfreude at this I have to confess:

    https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/ayrshire/ayr-street-becomes-mini-harbour-24517596

An Ayr street has turned into a 'mini harbour' – after boats were left abandoned on the side of the road.

A spokesperson for the ARA said: "The Ayrshire Roads Alliance has visited the site and confirmed that the boats are not causing disruption to the traffic flow or causing an obstruction, as they are contained within parking bays.

"This means that the Alliance does not have the authority to remove the boats under the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984."

How much does an old boat cost? There are a few places in Edinburgh I’d like to moor one…

Many years ago I did a data migration project for Gloucestershire Police where I discovered that the number of different offence categories you could be nicked for was quite extensive. One of them was being drunk in charge of a boat on the high street. Didn't know if it was some historical oddity or whether there's a high street in Gloustershire where they use boats instead of cars :)

Yes where they put the tourists in a bus boat and drive it into the river.people can die even when driver sober

West Linton Golf Course has a boat . But no sign of water. A big Orange dinghy with outboard motor.

One of the farms I have been up at on my bike this week also has one.

I think farms are places things get stored at for later? MAybe same with golf courses.

Farms are where all old porcelain bathtubs and sinks go to die.
