From Twitter this morning, following a wee cycle last night...

The "national cycle route" NCN 1 from Musselburgh Station to the Esk walkway is a special kind of frustrating! Could quite achievably have a direct path on the other side of the railway.

@fisherknit Direct path? Not really it floods under both bridges - could be fixed?

@talkporty sure, rough paths would need brought up to std, drainage etc, but possibility of a really good cycle path

@talkporty like this... (NCN1 through Musselburgh)

@fisherknit This is a better route if some work done. You can use very rough path now.

@talkporty yeah, I would normally use the rough paths from QMU to the bridge coming out at Monktonhall Pl; but muddy!

‏@fisherknit Bit to right of question mark could do with review as existing path from red word "many" is probably better

@talkporty yeah, except for the B6415 "joke-a-bout" - high speed roundabout, not cycle friendly at all

@fisherknit Very true - needs to be made safe for pedestrians as well as cyclists

(apologies, but bad image tags seem to have left the last attempt at this thread in a zombie state!)
