Yesterday I was in Derby for an hour or so between train connections, so I paid a visit to an outfit called Park Bikeworks. It has only been open about four months.
Looking on Streetview it was formerly a small department store on three(ish) levels, and it's been converted very effectively with bright décor and nice wood floors.
PBW is actually a sort of multifunctional shop, and in Edinburgh terms you have The Bicycleworks for fixing stuff, PY/The Pastures for deli, Biketrax for bikes and accessories, Ronde for bike fitting, and all the parking and changing facilities at your work (lockers and showers), all under one roof. Plus outside they have covered parking and a Cyclehoop track pump (which I tried out, purely for research purposes).
Staff are very friendly, prices are OK, the food looked good too but I didn't have time nor the appetite mid-morning. I bought some new ultra-lightweight gloves while I was there.
Worth a look if you're in the area. The town has a reasonable profusion of cycle infra and some useful contra-flow lanes, but it doesn't feel very connected yet.
